Thumbs up What Book/Comic/Short Story/Poem you read last?

Why not?

It's self explanatory really.

I know this is a community of gamers and film buffs, but I figured to see if there were any other literary enthusiasts like myself.

I read books all the time, I read comics every once in a while, I rarely read short stories, and I only read Poetry as an assignment.

Last Book:

Title: Lockdown

Series: Escape From Furnace (Book I)

Author: Alexander Gordon-Smith

Genre: Horror/Thriller

Fiction

Last Comic:

Title: The Hard Goodbye

Series: Sin City (Book I)

Author: Frank Miller

Genre: Horror/Action/Neo-Noir

Fiction

Last Short Story:

Title: The Pit and the Pendulum

Series: None

Author: Edgar Allen Poe

Genre: Horror

Fiction

Last Poem:

Don't remember

Sorry if no one likes this thread but I figured I'd give it a try.

EDIT: Currently reading The Accidental Billionaires by Ben Mezrich, the novel that Aaron Sorkin based his Academy Award Nominated The Social Network Screenplay off of.

I actually just ordered Ambrose Bierce's 'The Devil Dictionary'. It's been on my wishlist for over a decade. Yes, I'm serious.

The last book I read was Marilyn Manson's autobiography entitled 'The Long Hard Road Out of Hell'. Good read and I could identify with many situations described from his youth.

The last poem I read was by myself; I've been working on it for quite a while. Eventually it will become one of my lyrics. Maybe one day I will share my art with you fine gentlemen. For now, its fuction is strictly therapeutic.

Keep us posted, don't hold out on us.

*Cracks knuckles and headbutts cinderblock*

And I don't have gripes with Song Lyrics, I enjoy music, I just never enjoyed reading Poetry, Song Lyrics are sung and mostly contain music to help progress them, Poetry I just find bland and unappealing.

EDIT: When is that Kane & Lynch Comic coming out? Surely everyone here's going to read that, yeah?

What is it now, Charlie? Dog Man wasn't always Dog Man, you know. I too had parents raising me in the same way that they were raised. Instead of becoming the lawyer, which they've obiously wanted me to be, I became a musician.

I've already written sixteen pages on Word and its probably only five percent or less than everything i have to write, the problem now being that i'm not fully satisfied with a couple of character handling so now i have to 'rethink' before i can start writing again...
And i'm even if i was getting paid for this i would still be doing it in my current pace ...

Our friend Ward shoved up something in three months, whereas i care for my masterpiece

I'm waiting for the sixth issue to come out so that i can get a bundle of all six together...

And that's IF i really give a damn ...

The artist had posted pages from the first few comics on his blog: it's missing the dialogs but judging from the pictures alone you really don't need a litterary man to compose the lines...

Ah. I'm just going to wait until all 12 issues are done and hope that they combine all 12 and make a Graphic Novel outta it, more convienant that way.

I ordered The Dogs of War by Frederick Forsyth. I'm also replaying Far Cry 2 to get in the mood of overthrowing a country.

What are these "teabaggers", "monster trucks" and "white houses" that you speak of? Are you on drugs?! You're still game, right?

'Cept that bush did just move 'bout 3 centimetres to the left just now, huh? I could've sworn I saw -- No, nothing.

Nothing out of the ordinary indeed.

Default What's-a-waitin'-for-me

I haven't decided what to read through next once I've finished TAB, but here's what I got on my shelf, some leftover from Christmas that I haven't gotten to yet.

The Disciple by Stephen Coonts, supposedly some kind of Political/War Thriller involving Iran, the U.S. and Nuclear Missiles an' all that good stuff. Got it as a gift, never heard of it, but it itrigued me, but also it's 500 Page legth is why it wasn't a top priority read, I'll get to it eventually.

Kickass, the Graphic Novel. Of course it wasn't written as a Grpahic Novel, but as a 12-Issue (I think) Comic Series that was reprinted in a collection once completed. I asked for it purely because I was a fan of the movie so it should prove to be awesome.

A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin, thank Slash for that one.

The next two books in the Wheel of Time series, specifically The Great Hunt & The Dragon Reborn both by Robert Jordan.

My step-sister lent me the first Harry Potter book, The Philosopher's (A.K.A. Sorcerer's) Stone I figured it was high-time I finally read them and learned what the fuss has been about so I'll get to that sooner or later.

I got Michael Herr's Dispatches because I heard about it's influence on Apocalypse Now, Shakespear's King Lear just because I loved Ran so freaking much, the LOTR books because I never read them, and that's about it.

As far as things on my shelf I'm waiting for, that's not to mention things that haven't come out yet, don't own or aren't available at the library yet.
