Windows Live or i can not play? Problems!!!

On the previous HDD, in which Windows XP was installed, i installed the game and created an offline profile. I went through the campaigns, but i could not play on local area network - it simply did not work.. Other games worked fine.

Now in the new HDD, in which Windows 7 is installed, i installed the game, but it does not allow me to even create an offline profile. The only way is to join some ridicioulus xbox live account... Please explain - if i do not register, i won't be able to play this game? And why offline profile is not available?
