Lol, Captain Hook would be pissed i guess. I do love seeing Hughs robotic feet in the first video and how he can use his phone to tweak or rebalance the configuration. I just picture his iPhone having settings such as cruise-control or Usain Bolt 100m setting.

Might get a little bit of bleed-over with this and the transhumanism thread, but thanks a ton for the videos. I think biomechanics is fascinating and you just gave me a slew of quality videos I hadn't seen before :-).

I definitely want to see some more of these inventors and minds behind these projects talk about potential future implications though. While neary all the research today is aimed at disabilities correction, I'd like to hear their takes on say, augmenting a healthy human being beyond what would normally be possible (like what we see in DX)

Check out Kevin Warwick's I, Cyborg. He's a Brit professor who's been exploring this stuff: controlling a cybernetic arm across the Atlantic via an implant attached to the nerves in his wrist.

He does come across a bit arrogant, though, in the text.

Recorded monkeys brain waves in relation to movement of arm body movement while the monkey played with a joystick controlling a robotic arm. They then Implanted electronics into the brain cells. The monkey eventually learned how to move the robots using only the thought of moving the joystick which you'll see in the last minute or so of the clip.

I will look into that. I've heard of Warwick, but never gotten around to I, Cyborg.

On a similar note, if any of you have a good 80 minutes to waste, this is a very intriuging film. Resolution is hell, and it is still a "rough," but if you are interested in the subject and have the time, it's worth your attention.
