Game runs for a while, then... Kane & Lynch Dead Men has stopped working.

Hi,
seems I'm late to the party here.
Before plunking down my hard earned for the sequel, I thought I'd install and play the original, which I'd picked up for cheap on the Steam Sale.

Well, having had to use GFWL before, I don't seem to have suffered any issues that I can tell, as a result of that.
Likewise, the game starts fine.
However, after a random amount of time - sometimes just as soon as gameplay commences, sometimes after a few chapters, I get the random "Kane & Lynch - Dead Men has stopped working" message.

I am running
Vista 64bit
8gb Ram
Intel (r) core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz
Nvidia Geforce 9800 GTX+
Creative SB x-Fi

Anyone any ideas on trouble shooting, or if a patch ever materialised?

For what it's worth, the game's great fun, if a little politically incorrect!
Quite how this snuck past the moral majority, I don't know!
