Can't save game- TR 3

Hi - I'm trying to play Tomb Raider 3 on my toshiba laptop; it runs on Vista and it works I can hear the sounds and it plays the movies and I can skip levels but I can't save games

Is there anyway I can fix this or do I just have to suck it up and restart everytime I die haha
