Game Freezing Randomly

I bought Batman Arkham Asylum yesterday on the release date and I have enjoyed the game thus far, making it all the way to the Botanical Garden, however, the game suffers from random freezing up issues and it is game killing.

Yesterday the game froze on me 2-3 times during story mode, but I noticed it was really random, I remember once it froze at Asylum West when I used the grapple to get to try and get to the top balchony of the penitentary and again when I started to glide from the top balchony of the penitentary to the ground, it froze on me mid-flight on the way down, but after the freezes it didnt happen again in those areas, so I just ignored it and went on and continued with the story.

Early this morning I woke up and turned on the game to continue where I left off last night (Glasshouse Entrance) and made my way to the Botanical Glasshouse when it happened again, it froze when I grappled the stone gargoyle. So I decided to reset my PS3 and try again when all of the sudden it happened again, same gargoyle. So after many resets I noticed the pattern, when the stone gargoyle is grappled it freezes the game, but it doesnt always freeze the first time I grapple it, but sometimes if I swing to the other gargoyles it does aswell, because being the player I am, I prefer to do inverted takedowns alot, so the first thing I go for in rooms is usually up high. So after many and many resets I finally get past the part and I have no troubles from here on... until i have to backtrack not long after back to the Botanical Glasshouse... and yes, it froze again, same situation, grappling a gargoyle.

At this point I have had it, and decided to shut the game off thinking it was my PS3 acting up on me, until I did some research on the internet. Many people are having the same problem I am but in different parts of the game, and its not only PS3 owners because people that have the Xbox 360 version is having the same problem. The disk has no scratches and was bought brand new.

I noticed a few posts down someones having the problem aswell and he has returned and gotten a new disk twice, so it cant be the disk, and people on other forums have had this problem.

So I suppose we are going to have to wait for a patch to be released to fix this bug? And does anyone knows a way I can contact the makers of this game to inform them?

My copy for the Xbox is doing the same thing. Initially it would stop at the opening credits when it got to "Rocksteady" and now it usually stops when I go to the upgrade screen or change game zones. It also locks up at the "Retry" or "Quit" selection if I get killed, without fail. I have gone through 3 copies of the game so far and every one has done the same thing.

Wow that is truly weird. I have not played much but I have got past the opening credits just fine every time. I don't want to jinx you, but the only time my xbox kept freezing was when I was close to getting RROD. It might not be the game. Especially since your on your third copy.

Red flag for your XBox. Sounds like it's nearing the end of it's life unfortunately.

Hi gents, this is being looked into, so I'll pass on any info I happen to get.

For PS3 people, reinstalling the gamedata (by deleting the current gamedata and booting the game again) should be their first step.

360 people should try installing to hard drive to see if that helps.

I have got to my 3rd copy and its still messed so I guessing it might be my Ps3 so in a couple of days Im going to buy me a PS3 slim to see if it works then.

Reinstalling hasn't helped a single bit. I've reinstalled multiple times with each new disc I had exchanged, It still s up. Every time I play.

when you go through the disks (all three of them) reinstall the gama data. i think that's where the mis-encoded info lies. got lucky so far with my third disc and have moved forward so far. i wish you luck.
