If its working on your Windows 7 partition (is this on the same machine - so same hardware) then its a software thing.

Could be .net related, grab this update

someone has to hehe..

lucky am good at multitasking also only work til 3:30pm on Fridays so gives me more time.

As just saying on another thread the number of reported issues is postively tiny and usually all same issues, so am really happy with the launch

well what would cause this since the other 50+ games I have all launch and play just fine in Vista? I certainly cant buy the full game if I cant even get the demo to work. btw all drivers, dx and net framework are up to date.

The launcher is written in .net, and does things like query the hardware to determine what settings are optimal. If it has a problem when running these queries it could cause the crash you're having.

Windows 7 has a different version of .net

all info is in my sig. I was about to delete the Windows 7 partition since I really need the hd space. its a hassle to go reboot just go play a game or demo and then reboot again to do all my other stuff since nothing is really installed on the Windows 7 side of things.

Okay can we try this..

Run explorer.

Browse to %windir%\Microsoft.net\Framework\V2.0.50727\

%windir% is your windows folder name. C:\windows etc

Then open the following file "Aspnet.config". You may see a file just called Aspnet as the file type is hidden (there is only one file called aspnet so this should be it)

Run notepad and drag the file into it to view it

Change
<legacyUnhandledExceptionPolicy enabled="false"
to
<legacyUnhandledExceptionPolicy enabled="true"

Update -
If that doesnt work. try following the advice in this forum <- its for another product BUT its the same .net error

I uninstalled the demo and downloaded the one from Steam and it does the same thing. I figured it would but I just wanted to make sure.
