Requesting Comic Book Staff People

I know this is more like an off topic thread but this concerns Batman, so please listen and hear me out.


thebatman226, another buddy not participating on these forums and myself(Warren, hello) are creating a fan fiction Batman series. I'm not going to release anything from the story line because we want to keep it tightly underwraps but we feel that we can do this next to the game to give players and people waiting something to do in their free time besides complain about the game(ohh, I'm gonna get it for that one) and posting 'When is this demo going to be out'. We are doing this more for fun, no money intended, we are young and aspiring writers/illustrators/etc wanting to make comic books for fun. We aren't treading on anyone's feet here. So we are requesting people to participate in a Batman series with us as staff. Contact us through PM if you are interested. The sooner we can get people on to our staff the sooner we can put out these comics for you guys. All I can say about it right now is it is like a webcomic(average lenght about 12-15 pages, average comic book is 22) and I've planned out anywhere from 10-25 issues or more that we can post. This will most likely be a monthly thing due to the time. So here are the below requirements...


Comic Book Letterer - We need someone experienced in putting the words, the sounds and the narration on the pages for the art. Giving it their own style given from the writing. They must have experience and have atleast one picture showing off their skills in this area.


Colorist - We need someone with great talent that is willing to really explode the images off the panels. We are going to have some very capturing landscape scenes as well as some very violent and brutal action sequences. It's going to be challenging but should really show off your talent in this area. If interested you will need to provide a colored art that you have done showing off your talent. You don't have to draw the picture yourself but you will have to color it.



More requirements(We aren't a Nazi camp so these aren't strict)

- Must have an AIM or MSN account to communicate with the other staff members.
- Must be willing to participate in discussions and engage in brainstorming.
- Limited slacking, the hope is that we can hammer out one of these a month, maybe two and slacking will really pull this back.
- Try your very best no matter what.
- Have fun, this is all about fun, we want to do this to celebrate our favorite superhero ever. Stressing and getting depressed and annoyed over stupid stuff isn't what this is about. This is about showing talent and entertaining people at the same time.




The reason writing and illustrating has not been taking up is because those spots are filled. We might be willing to bring on another person who is interested in sharing ideas and participating. Might.

I look forward to the upcoming talent presented. If the moderators are not okay with this can you please contact me via PM and we can discuss it. I'm not sure why this would happen but if it does, let me know.

We are very interested...We have added you to the list. Your work on batman's drawing was fantastic. We will keep you and the others in the loop. If you guys could provide work that would be awesome. Comparing and contrasting would be great, we are really trying to find a certain style. Thanks a lot thus far guys.

Yeah, being the colorist means you are going to have to do a little less than the pencilist. Instead of designing everything you are going to have to make everything uniquely vibrant and jump out of the comics. From what I've seen I believe you can do that. It's going to call for a lot of work but since I have created 4-5 panel pages ranging at most 15 pages, you will be able to finish the work in about a weeks time.


Also, to anyone who is keeping count the script for the first issue is finished. I'm awaiting check in's from my consultant before being shipped over to batman. So, I'm giving everyone till Wednesday afternoon(might be adjusted) before we pick.

I suck at all of that stuff, I would be glad to be your first critique or review the script if you want someone that has been reading comics for over 35 years to judge it I've read the good and bad. If not that's okay..

Add DC to your myspace. Every once in awhile they have a convention and plenty of opportunities for you to submit your work in the hopes of getting your own series. If I remember it right though, you can't use existing characters in the DCU. If you're unable to actually go to the conventions, you can always submit entries online. Only reason I know of that is they send me bulletins every once in awhile, but my comic is still in secret production..... Crud! Said to much. *Runs off*

I would be very interested in getting you to critique on our work. You might be in a bad spot seeing as we are making our own storyline thats going a completely seperate path. You could be a good judge of character, of course. But we are basically just create....SPOILERS....a new character. But I'm trying to create the Batman we know and love as well as other characters throughout the story. I'm going to put you down on the list as critic.

That's the plan. The biggest problem thus far is peoples available time our drawer is in Australia, I'm in the USA and some other people are spread around Europe and England. So it's challenging...



I have no official release date for the first issue. All I can tell you now is that it's under review from my consultant as soon as that is done its sent to Batman who then sends it to our new colorist(still up in the air). But thanks for being patient, we will make our decesions later tomorrow probably.

Cool I get to be a critic, no it's not critic, it's critique, it sounds french and fancy. I look forward to reading what you guys have made. I live in the US too. So a new character cool. Will this actually be a panel to panel thing?

The story arc is 15 comics. The hope and it will be one gigantic graphic novel, sorta.

The plan is if the team acts well together and we can respect each others opinions we will continue. From what I'm hearing from my consultants they like what I have built out of the story, its not without flaws(those we are working out now). So hopefully within a few days we can punch out a summary and a release date for you folks.

If you know, what is the story arc about.

I've read brilliant pieces which include Watchmen and Batman Hush etc, which I consider masterpieces as far as story and art go. Also a fan of Jim Lee, whos worked on many comics, with Superman and DC heroes alike.
