Talking EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: There Will Be a New LoK! (UPDATED ONCE AGAIN)

Hello my fellow LoKers,

I recently created a group on Facebook called “Eidos, We Want A New Legacy of Kain Game”. A person by the name of Victoria Vermillion told me to join her group called “A New Legacy of Kain Game Please Eidos! Campaign” and shortly after, sent an email blast to all the members of the group saying: 2D and 3D artists wanted and C++ programmers to work on the LoK game. I obviously thought it was another fan game and told her what game she was planning to make seeing that there are: 3 Blood Omen remakes, 1 post-Defiance game, Legacy of Kain: Prodigal Sons and one fan game planning to continue Legacy of Kain: The Dark Prophecy.

This is how Victoria replied:
We are working on an official Legacy of Kain game with Eidos and Crystal Dynamics with Aaron Hausmann that ties up all the loose ends of all the previous games.

Me: ARE YOU SERIOUS? AN OFFICIAL GAME?

Victoria: Damn right we're serious! That’s why we are so keen to get people to petition in the group- to stop it being canceled again.

We already have Aaron Hausmann, one of the leading artists on the previous game helping us.

Eidos like our script and want us to give them the official package including synopsis, game mechanics and 2D and 3D renders etc.

It's why we need your help! Get as many people as you can to join the group and help us out so the game can be a reality.

Eidos ARE interested in making the game!!

---

Summing it all up, there MIGHT BE A NEW LEGACY OF KAIN GAME.

Here is what you need to do:
- Get in touch with Victoria Vermillion through Facebook if you want to help.
- You can also sign the online petition (new one).
- Tell other LoKers to read this post.

Also, I created a website called www.lokfangames.webs.com. It will serve as a place to give you links to ALL fan games (and movies too!) being made and give you info on those games. Please tell others about it so all LoKers can find out about these games and play them!

UPDATE: It looks like the Chris Bruno who Victoria and Aaron were communicating with wasn't the actual Chris Bruno, but someone who was impersonating him. The real Chris has been notified of this and will communicate with Victoria to try to sort things out. I will keep you updated if anything important must be said.

Sure, there's a place on the website where you can do that. It's called Submit Your Website. Click there.

I hate to be the negative one here, but none of that is an assurance that there will be another game, only that Eidos is interested in it. Out of curiosity, who is the "we" Ms. Vermillion kept referring to in her reply?

I don't want to throw a wet blanket on any momentum, so I'll sign the petition but we've had petitions before and they went nowhere.

True, true. Remember one thing though, if Eidos shows interest, that means the series isn't completely dead yet.

I don't mean to be all cynical here, but when googling 'Victoria Vermillion, the first relevant result I get is this thread, the next is the Facebook group in question. She does not have any apparent connections with Eidos/Crystal Dynamics, nor any game design/producing/directing portfolio that I'm able to find.

There is no evidence other than her word that this has any official backing whatsoever.

Not to mention this would be a highly unorthodox method of development, in which Eidos is apparently shipping the game off to a select group of Fans to complete, based on an apparently submitted fan-fiction ("they liked our script says the Facebook page).

Software development teams range into dozens, nowadays hundreds, so to ask for 6 programmers via a Facebook page rather than Eidos' own Employment Opportunities page is not believable.

In short, nothing adds up whatsoever. Based on the lack of any evidence whatsoever, the nonsensical approach to organisation, and the word 'petition' in the name of the FB group in question, I'm resolved to believe it is a load of rubbish.

I am completely agree with you. I think the same way.
Unless Cris will post in that thread and say something about it, I will think about it as a weird joke.

I'd actually prefere that eidos doesn't use a fan fic or fan art for the next game because it's unlikely that those would be close to the quality of those made by professionals. I guess it's possible, but it's a big risk when you're trying to make a continuation of the work someone else has already started as too much re-imagining can prevent it from feeling like the same game.

However any rumours and fan based games are sure to build publicity for the series, which isn't usually a bad thing.

I can only agree with you Vampmaster. I think the only credible ones for creating the official continuation are those who worked on the series. There are lots of unexplained things and I don´t believe that fans can qualitatively substitute the official script. It is nice that things are finally moving, but as long as fans make only fan games, I am fine.

anyway, we have to wait whether aaron will confirm this rumour.

I agree with Vamp and Raina, i want to see some professional work in it. Not that the fan work isn´t good but the proffesionals work is always stunning....

Cannot believe it yet, want some proof... it might be some trick to get more people on the group... i´ll be there next time i go to fb.

I agree with Vamp and the others - I'd far rather not have fans working on the series.

To quote Zero Punctuation;

"Fans are clingy complaining dips**ts who will never ever be grateful for any concession you make. The moment you shut out their shrill tremulous voices the happier you'll be for it."

In short, fans - whilst having the best of intentions - will destroy the series and further push it in to a niché market. Which is bad.

Nonsense. There is no objection to fan-projects. The cynicism in the thread targets someone who has declared that her project has official connections with Eidos, yet provides not the slightest bit of proof. This, combined with an apparent game development plan that deviates from every financial and organisational approach the game industry has taken for the last several decades, makes this unbelievable at best, and a malicious attempt to advertise a fan-proect based on false credentials at worse.

Man we are not negative about things we are trying to be realists!! We do not have proof so we cannot believe something a random person says sorry!!!

For the fan games now i personally do not have any problem, guys that are behind the fan projects do a great job, they should keep up the good work!

I still agree with majinkura. Even if she has not presented proof (and I think DallasXIII found some), you people should not start to be pessimistic. I understand the realism part, and even if it seems (even to me) very rare, you people still should have an optimistic view about an upcoming title and have hope. Just wait, I'm sure she'll come up with proof.

Hi everyone. I spoke with Aaron Wise about this whole thing. They are NOT making a game, nor plan to do so. They gather artwork and work on the script for the game to give to Eidos. The aim is to get their attention. Aaron has permitted me to post his message here:

Quote:
My name is Aaron Wise and Eidos, (if you have read the posts by victoria and me) have never mentioned once that Eidos have agreed that they will make a game at all. What victoria and I are doing is simply writing our own script and compiling artwork and 3d renders of what we would want it to look like and then present it to eidos to see if they re interested. That way we have done all the ground work for them so they should be able to give us a yes or no weather or not they will make it.

I understand you being sceptical I am sceptical myself but I have hope, and hope is what we need right now. I have spoken to a guy who works for eidos called Chris Bruno and Victoria has spoken to someone else in Eidos who is also interested.

If we keep the fan involvement alive then we will hopefully have enough backing power to show them that there is still a huge fanbase. But sadly 50+ people is not going to work, that is why we are asking everyone on the group to advertise as much as they can. We need it to be in the thousands before Eidos start realising that it is worth something.

I spoke once with Hausmann unfortunately, the artists who were originally working on Dark Prophecy are now working on Rockstar's new game red dead redemption so unfortunately he cannot help any more. Please refer to Rockstar's site or Aaron Haussmann's artwork for updates.

Well, good. At least we know they are trying, meaning Arron and this Victoria person. If they get a script worthy and Eidos agrees, then let's go for it.

Edit: lmao, so this is the same petition we've all already signed I just looked and I am still one of the first people to ever sign it, though it's up to near 6,000 signatures now.
