Default Thief DS - Runs on Windows 7 but Garret circles to the left.

Hi folks! I just joined this community today hoping someon could help me with a TDS problem. I installed it to my Windows 7 Home Premium desktop machine. Game launches fine and seems to run fine with the exception of one thing. When I start a new game and start the first mission (training), Garret is immediately walking and he seems to be circling to the left all the time. He won't stand still!

I've had this problem with one or two other games/demos in the past and the fix seemed to be a game controller plugged into a USB. So remembering this, I unplugged my joystick, and most all my USB devices (including my printer!), but nothing seems to work. I've installed the 1.1 patch and tried running the game in compatibility mode for XP SP2, and all the Vista compatibility modes.....still no fix. Garett still keeps circling to the left.

I'd appreciate any help if anyone has any. Thanks!

USB devices are the common reason, as you say. How about your keyboard? Do you have a USB-to-PS2 adapter and a PS2 interface on your computer? Try using that, if so. This is just a wild guess. I heard some time ago of one brand of keyboard causing this, but clearly most do not.

Default had similar issue - now resolved

Hi - I just thought I'd post here I had same issue except it was forwards (walking) and menu's kept auto scrolling to the top...

The culprit was my USB Nostromo N52 gamepad - the scroller wheel setting was as normal but when I disabled the scrollwheel on the gamepad the problem stopped.

rather than arbitrarily unplugging all usb items - have a look at settings for things like gamepads as it could be a simple fix to keep using them.
