Default Router Problem

Hey guys! Sorry if this is an innappropriate section, but there aren't any forums for general technical issues, I figured it would be cool to post it here.

Well, I have a Belkin 54G router, and most of the time it works great, but occasionally (every few months or so) it acts ..weird. Like it is now, if I load a Youtube video, it'll stop loading part the way through. The same happens with downloads, the progress completely halts and doesn't resume unless I cancel and start downloading again. Occassionaly it stops loading webpages, but that's rare since they don't take very long.

At first I thought it was because my computer is upstairs and the router is downstairs (and according to the diagram on the box it came with, G is the lowest signal strength), but the same happens to the computer it's connected to (albeit it loads far faster on that computer, but the same thing happens.) I even put my PSP right next to the router in the middle of a download and I had to start again about 10 times in a hope that it wouldn't stop d/ling.

I'm hoping that this will stop soon, but it's quite annoying as it lasted for 4 months the first time it happened.

Had the same wireless router with the same problem. Belkin are well know for being........whats the word.........crap.

It's only a cheap router though isn't it. You can buy another or try living with it as long as possible.

If you go into the router though you can upgrade the firmaware, might help but i dought it.

One way to be sure it is your router is to disconnect your router and plug straight into teh PC.

Do you use a cable modem? If so you may just need to reset it. I have to do mine about every 6 - 8 months.

The router is connected to the PC. Always has been =/

Yeah, it's cable.. I think. It plugs into the wall so I assume it's cable. Reseting just a simple case of switching it off at the plug?

In the back of the cable modem box there shold be a small pin hole. Just use a pen tip or paper clip to push and hold for about 30 deconds. It should reset your modem. Just double check with your cable provider.
