AOD - Menu issues

I just got the game today and when I loaded it up everything was going great, patched it before i even played it and now when i arrive at the main menu it simply freezes at this

The in game menus just cause the game to crash.

I don't expect Eidos or Core care enough about a game that tanked about 3 years ago to help users any more, but im hoping one of the users would be able to offer some advice.

Which could be technical install issues or that 2 games are
somehow running at once. have a look at that post, if
what is suggested doesn't work, post back here
