Im confused help me. Courtyard with palm trees and tight rope(TRC-5)

Im in the courtyard at the 1st level (streets of rome) in Tomb Raider chronicles.
Larson waits in the next room up on a balcony to the left.
Larson trys to run off when I point my guns towards him. But im
confused wether I have to kill him or not?
Does anyone know what I have to do next? just scare him off, or kill him?

Just shoot at him and scare him off at this point.

What happens if I kill him, what will happen

No you can't kill him, he will appear as though he is
wounded and then dissappear- I think the next step
is to get across the rope in the courtyard. If you
need a walkthrough try Stella's site. There are a few
puzzles to solve involving using Lara's guns - just keep
in mind that they can help, where other means appear
hard if not impossible. Cheers / Chris
