Whats the best time for CPU shopping

I was checking out some ram a few weeks back on newegg, and it was running about $80. When checkedd on it recently it went up to about $100. I was under the impression that ram prices typically whent down over time. Ecspecially since this is now older stuff since the DDR2 memory has been released.

Is there a better time of the year to shop for computer components when they might be cheaper, or does the market just flux like that all the time at random?
