Default How to have *Garrett* ready his weapon?

Maybe I missed something in the input options of the game or in how to use the inputs in manipulating weapons. When I come up behind an AI, Garrett will automatically raise his blackjack or dagger when you get within range of an AI (which is really close) and also have to be within something like 15 degrees off a line from their backbone. Well, I suppose for newbies that use default keyboard input settings or those that like automatic weapon readying then this is great. For me, that sucks. I'd rather ready my own weapon myself and release it when I want to release it.

In T1 and T2, you could ready the blackjack and keep it readied indefinitely. The sword you could ready for an overhead slash but not indefinitely. In T3, I haven't found a way to me as Garrett ready my own weapon upon my own volition. I don't want the game doing it for me. That means that *I* am not controlling my own actions, and tapping a movement key to trigger the auto-readying of a weapon sure doesn't feel or look like *I* am the one readying the weapon.

It's more like Garrett has a big cam attached to his forearm that cannot be sensed by AIs and Garrett must press the cam against the AI to raise his paralyzed arm into which a weapon was slid into a grip for his paralysed hand and his pointer finger is the only non-paralyzed member of his arm that he can use to flip a catch to release the cam-actuated and poised weapon, or some puppetteer is pulling the string for Garrett's arm when he gets in the zone where his weapon can be used. Also, he cannot even poise a weapon (i.e., ready it and leave it readied) when there is no AI in his attack zone. If you use the blackjack or dagger with no AI around, Garrett just keeps cycling his weapon through a swing. Is there any way to regain control over Garrett's arm so it behavior is not dependent on the presence of an AI?

So either the implied answer is that you believe from your experience that there is no way to get Garrett to control the use of his weapon separate of the game doing it for him automatically, or, the answer is that you don't know. I saw a link to a tweaker site or utility but haven't investigated it yet to determine if weapon control is something that can be tweaked. You decided not to address the topic.
