I'm not far into the game, so I can't be sure, but have they done the unthinkable and taken away our wonderful long, long convoluted levels?
I love the new graphics, the feel of the game is good, the amosphere is great, but those first two oh-so-short levels don't bode well. I do hope that there are some levels equal in length to Life of the Party or the Bank. One of things I always loved about Thief was the fact that the first time you played a mission it could take days. Also, I hope we haven't lost explorable fireplaces, alternate routes and secrets, but it isn't looking good so far. |

I don't think convoluted is the word I would use, but I agree, the level design in this new Thief really lacks the scope from the previous games - I just think they made the decision (aka mistake) early on to streamline it to the point where they stripped elements from the earlier games that made them great to begin with. I understand their quest to create a bonafide hit for the mainstream but I don't think you have to simplify a game for it to be accepted by the masses.
