Anyone experience saved games not working?

For some reason when I try to load a saved game in the Black Gate Facility in Trier Germany the game crashes to the desktop. I've tried reloading a previous save and getting back into that area but it does the same thing each time. Has anyone else experienced this?

DE:IW is really frustrating me. Aside from the fact it's a pathetic sequel to the original my system becomes highly unstable any time after I've played the game. Any help would be appreciated as I don't know what to do short of trying to get through the zone without dieing.

There is an issue with save games getting corrupted on occaision. Not had it myself.
Unfortunately the only way to get round this is to go back to an earlier save

Yes, but I've done that. It's my quicksave btw. I've reloaded a normal game and then quicksaved over the old quicksave, and it still crashes. Do I need to delete the old quicksave file or what? Thanks for your help.

I had similar issues with save games.

Dont use quicksaves. Use proper saves.

And secondly, you may have to start all over again. I had to restart the whole game after several hours of play because all of my savegames had somehow become corrupted. Also there can be similar problems if you have done any editing of the main config file in the IW system directory (such as changing mouse lag, enemy damage ratio etc)

I also made sure that when I started the game I put my graphics and control settings to exactly where they were when I made my last save, because IW was resetting all of my graphics settings averytime it started up.
