Please answer at least one of these questions about story maps.
1. How do I make the end of a level? 2. Is 10 enemies my limit? 3. How do I make objectives? 4. Any other advice is welcome....... |

I know reaperbot's answers are short but he's right. The only way to learn is to experiment. Best thing to do it to make your map first and call it something like "map-templete" and then make another copy of it of it and call it something like "map-test1" you can then muck about with the logic and not worry about messing up all your hard work on the blueprint.
The GameLogic is pretty self explanitory really. It's all in english, it just takes a while to adjust your way of thinking. You'll notice that the logic system uses Triggers and Actions. Now think what that means!!...... it means when something happens (the Trigger) then do something (the Action) Start with something easy like make a key appear when you flick a switch or an enemy appear when you get to a certain location. ...and to make the level end you first have to set Objectives, the level will end on the completion of these objectives. The trick is to not be afraid to experiment, if you mess something up so what? you can always delete it or if you make a major mess of things reload your template file and start again. I always find that sometimes if you start again you'll end up with better logic than you did before because you know EXACTLY what you want on the second time round! Good luck, and let us know of your progress, if there's something in perticular you get stuck with give us a shout. Last edited by CountZero; 02-13-2003 at 04:39 AM. |

Haha! That was quick!! Didn't you try building a tester map to try things out??!! You'll find that somethings you want to do ain't possible so you have to think of alternative ways to do what you're trying to achieve!!
