While exploring the westernmost Downtown Apartments in Detroit (entered through a window from the fire escape -- contains the merchant Seurat and a room guarded by two Punks), I reloaded my quicksave after a failed sneaking attempt only to find myself falling (evidenced by the mission pointer with an "up" indicator and a rapidly increasing distance value) and no visuals but a bright screen. Upon viewing the map, it appears that I'm placed completely outside the apartments. Below are the images detailing this:
This is what it looks like immediately upon loading my save: ![]() (click image to enlarge) Those white spots grow until the entire screen is covered in white. Notice the distance on the mission pointer, indicating that I'm falling quite rapidly: ![]() (click image to enlarge) I have control over the game during this time, so I am able to access the menu and such, but I'm simply unable to prevent myself from dying due to falling. This is what the map shows during this time: ![]() (click image to enlarge) The main problem is that this is happening to my quicksave and both autosaves, all of which were within that building. I'm obviously not too far in the game, but I have no other saves (having relied solely on quick/autosaves thus far), so being unable to proceed with these saves will force me to start over. I'd rather not do that, so I'm wondering if there is any possible way for me to recover from a situation such as this. It would be no problem at all if there were a way to activate a noclip mode or some analogous feature, but I have yet to find a way to do such a thing, as there are apparently no console commands to speak of. Is there a workaround, or am I simply screwed? |

I did something like that once.
So all the auto-save points loading from the same spot out of bounds? I don't know what caused this glitch, but I have a few possible solutions. The first problem could be that your save files became corrupted. So first, find your save files. If you have this installed on steam it should be somewhere like \Steam\userdata\ID NUMBERS HERE\28080\remote. Click on the most file called "gamer##" in the folder (should be the most recent save file). Right click on it, go to properties and go to the previous versions tab. See if you can restore your save to a previous version. If that doesn't work, then the problem might be with the game not properly using the save files. In that case, you can try copying the save files to another folder, reinstalling the game, and then manually putting the old save files back into the save folder. |
