If your saying you can't glide, I'm inclined to quote an ol' mod named Keir:"It's not a bug in your games code, its a bug in your moral code."

And if you're still having trouble, tell us exactly where in this video you're having the issue

I hope this thread isn't too old to bump 'cause I'm having the same problem. I bought my version through Steam. I got a support ticket through them about the problem but (good old Steam) they replied with a link to solve problems with Arkham City.
Anyway, just like in the video above, I walk around the catwalk to the right and toss a batarang at the box on the wall. A fan starts up. I even hear the guard trapped in the room say he sees a fan starting up. I walk back around and stand at the edge of the catwalk. I *should* get an on-screen prompt to glide down to the next area... but I don't get the prompt. If I press the "glide" key anyway, nothing happens. If I try to move forward, I fall down into the gas and get a prompt to grapple back up. It is the only prompt I get and I can't move at all and can only grapple back up to the catwalk I was on. If I don't grapple back up it's game over. I googled the whole problem and eventually found that this is an anti-piracy glitch programed into the game. But I bought my version through Steam! Why am I having this problem? Does anyone know how to solve this issue? Steam isn't any help. I would appreciate any help. Thanks. |

I guess that's a fair question. Maybe this would help. This is a photo of the aforementioned Steam ticket. I hope you can read it, it's kind of small. Forgive me for blacking out my email address and Steam account name.
http://i1102.photobucket.com/albums/...de/Steam-1.png I hope this works, I'm not really adept at such things. I appreciate your interest. Thanks |

Well, I give up. After several emails to Steam and (at their suggestion) emailing SecuRom not once but twice (neither of which were answered)... I give up.
I found a number of videos on YouTube about similar problems with Batman: Arkham Asylum and after combing through numerous forums, I found myriad posts decrying one problem after another (and not just PC gamers like myself but Xbox players and PS2 players as well). So... I give up. Steam has generously offered to compensate my in the form of "store credit". In their own words... "As with most software products, we do not offer refunds or exchanges on games, DLC or in-game items purchased on our website or through the Steam Client. As a one-time customer service gesture we can issue you store credit for the amount of your purchase into your Steam Wallet. The credit will also remove the title or item from your account." I've already uninstalled the game. I think I'll use it toward the purchase of Skyrim. So be it. I can't play Batman: Arkham Asylum. No one knows why. Needless to say, I won't be playing Batman: Arkham City either. I've never encountered a problem like this in my thirteen years of gaming. I hope this isn't a portent of the future of gaming. Ah well. Have a good one. |
