YIR is a great movie. There are other Nick Twisp Novels by C.D. Payne, I can only hope there'll be a sequel.

After seeing Superbad and Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist, I've sworn to myself never to watch another Michael Cera flick. Ever. Again. I've had it with this hipster douchebag and his hipster douchebag flicks for hipsters. Fuck!

Hey i thought Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist wasn't too bad for the type of movie it was aiming to be ...

I can't really be bothered to make a top ten list, so I'll just give a brief description of some of the movies I saw in no particular order.

Inception- I liked it a lot. It's a good movie, not exactly high art but a fun movie nonetheless. My enjoyment in this film is similar to my enjoyment of The Mummy with Brendan Frasier. It's a well paced action movie with a healthy helping of another genre. I also appreciate it's lack of a tacky romance that plagues many big hits.

Kick-Ass- A fun movie, some stuff I didn't care for, but I liked it overall. Nicolas Cage was great in it.

Prince of Persia- It's a very Disney movie. Not a very good one, either.

Owls: The Movie (Legend of the Guardians)- Awful, just awful in every way. Worst movie of the year if you ask me.

Alice in Wonderland- This is one of the few times I think 3D could have been used well, and it really wasn't. The first two thirds of the movie is pretty entertaining, but it just goes downhill after that.

Unstoppable- It's just there. Not terrible, not amazing, not really entertaining. Just there.

Despicable Me- One of the few non-Pixar computer generated movies I've actually enjoyed. It's nowhere near the level of Pixar, but it did entertain me.

Toy Story 3- Very good but not as good as the previous 2. Entertaining, yet I hope it is the last.

The Expendables- Awful. It could only be worse if it starred owls. Predators was a much better throwback to the 80's style of action movie than this terrible excuse for a film.

True Grit- Very good. Highly recommended. Currently tied for my favourite film of the year. If it weren't for the legions of people that grew up brainwashed into thinking John Wayne could act, this would easily be like the 1939 Wizard of Oz to the 1925 Wizard of Oz. In other words, it would completely overshadow the original film adaptation.

Tracker- I doubt any of you saw this, as best I can tell it has had a very limited release (three screenings at TIFF are all I know of). It was very well done, very well acted. I highly recommend it if you can find it anywhere. It's the other film tied for my number 1 spot.

OK, maybe calling YIR a Classic is stretching it, not that the movie isn't good enough to be a classic but I doubt it will be remembered for years to come.

And Jack, I felt the same as you about Micahel Cera before YIR, but trust me YIR isn't awful like the other movie's he's been in Pre-YIR.

And Juno is extremely overrated in my opinion Grievous.

Really? No one is going to call B.S. on me saying Let Me In's better than Let The Right One In? . . . That's surprising.

Juno was part of the movie industry's sudden bangwagon love for independent movies ever since Little Miss Sunshine ...
Which itself was a very entertaining film, but movie studios began to unleash a load of these so called 'indie' films even though their budget/marketing/cast and crew and big studios backing it up have nothing to do with independent movies... ironically, one of these days they'll see that their latest indie film is going to cost as much as five David Lean productions... think about the stupidity of this outcome...

Juno grew out of this mess, and it culminated into Slumdog Millionaire's near-clean-sweep-win at the oscars two years ago... and what's even more embarrassing (and or depressing) is that it calls itself an independent movie... what i think is that the dumbasses thought 'indie' stands for 'indian' productions... i can't make any other sense...

But for the meantime let's just make a hug over our mutual understanding ...

*internet hug in progress* ...

Black Swan.

But before you call me out for getting off-topic with my single nomination for ten best films of 2010. I will trace back, and let you know that apparently Let Me In is a very good film. I have yet to see it, but I've heard praise left and right. That's good, it proves that maybe there is hope in remakes after all.

P.S. Juno is ugh garbage. But I did watch it for Ellen Page. Anything for Ellen.

Let Me In was a very good movie, but it wasn't quite as good as the original. I thought the heavy use of CGI for the vampire "bite scenes" wasn't very immersive. What was the girl actress too afraid to do her own stunts? They need to slap that kid and tell her if she wants to get paid, she's gonna do her own *** stunts.

Please Kent they used CGI in very brief, short scenes, the one where she attacks the jogger and the Hospital scene with Richard Jenkins. Honestly, both her and the jogger are in the dark, it looked much better that way, maybe if you clearly saw the two of them in light it would've looked cheesy, but I thought the CGI was adequate.
As for the Richard Jenkins scene, he looked a helluva lot more like someone who had acid spilled on their face then Hakan in LTROI.
The tree climbing one looked a little flimsy I'll admit, but it doesn't make it an inferior movie.

There are a lot of genuine kill scenes that DON'T use CGI.

And if we ARE on the subject of CGI, you didn't honestly think all those Cats in LTROI were AUTHENTIC did you?

Chloe Grace Moretz was in Kick-Ass, this movie, and a bunch of other , I'm sure money isn't a problem for her.

Besides, the effects usage is hardly why this movie beats LTROI,

At least that's how I see it, I've read the book and seen the original movie a bunch of times, I have comparisons that need making.

Okay lets get back on topic.
I'd say one of the best films this year was Eyes Wide Shut.
You know the one with Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise.
One of the Stanley Kubrick's better films.
Yes, that one.

No?

I'm not even kidding around, I really think that movie's a step-down from other Kubrick movies. The scene with Nicole Kidman, where she intentionally starts an argument on how women can be just as unfaithful as men, who argues about shit like that?

The cult is just stupid, it's weird, it's retarted, it's not scary, it's just bleh.

The final shot and line of the movie is just insulting, the pace is slower than 2001: A Space Odyssey, it's a just an erotic thriller that isn't erotic or thrilling.

Honorary Mentions to The Last Exrocism and Pararormal Activity 2 and The King's Speech, while it wasn't one of the top ten best films I saw last year it was definitely one of the best performances of the year.

I know it's an important scene, I know it's practically the center piece of the entire movie, and I think that it's dragged out far too long. I know why she's arguing about it, all I'm saying is that I think it's blown way out of proportion and just becomes complete lunacy, I think it's a lousy excuse for the near half hour long argument that ensues.
