Default "press start" glitch

I got Arkham Asylum for PS3 about a week ago and been playing it on and off.

Suddenly I can no longer start the game. I get a few splash screens that say "Eidos" and such and then there is a screen that says "press start".

I press start, nothing happens. None of the buttons on the controller do anything. It is the same result whether the controller is plugged in or not.

Help!

Honestly sounds like a problem with your controller. Are you sure that it's connected to your PS3 correctly? Note, I'm not saying you're an idiot...

You can plug a controller into the PS3 but still have it not "turned on" or connected to that particular PS3. Are you able to use this controller with other games on the same PS3?

Yes, the controller in question can control other games just fine.

Hmm, ok then I would suggest re-installing the game data (not to be confused with the save data of course) and see if that helps, as Dark Knight said above.

reinstalling i think would do the trick, sadly as it may be, you could just remove all content that exists with arkham asylum then pop it back in.
