Question No more dlc to come?

I remember reading on these forums (though can't find the thread) a response by a moderator to a concern that the upcoming (and now available) dlc was already on the disk, due to the maps and guns being viewable in the menus (albeit locked out).

The moderator assured that this was not down to these features already being present. Moreover, it had to do with the structure of the menus (or something) - meaning it would be difficult to add them later, and so placeholders were...erm...put in place (my words, not theirs).

My question is: does this mean that there will be no future dlc? No, not lasers and - I'm talking new maps. If they're not already integrated into the menus etc., does this mean they can't be added?

Would help if I could find the thread, I know - and what the hell am I doing discussing new dlc when the first doggie pack has just dropped? But, dammit, this question is burning and I need answers!

Well, would you know, I've only gone and found the thread in question:

http://forums.eidosgames.com/showthread.php?t=112562

In the words of Nick@IO, IOI Community Manager:

"The DLC is NOT on the disc already. But the way the game is built requires that we add the planned DLC as menu items in the game as we can't easily patch it in through an update or DLC."

So does this mean no more planned dlc....?

I wouldn't go so far as to suggest that this may be a bad thing, it's just that in this era of constantly streaming dlc I'm a little.....curious.

I'm hopefuly we'll see maps in the future as - probably like you - I love the multiplayer in this game. And believe it or not, I'd love to see Co-op story missions come alongside the map pack, but that could be a stretch.

But to get to the point: It just seems, from what Nick was talking about, that the User Interface would have to be altered to allow access to the new maps and such and it seems it can be tough to do this...From what I read, however, there's a lot to read between the lines in that quote LOL

I'd expect to see more maps though for sure!

I will admit that the release of this first DLC was a bit awkward, but I hope to see more DLC in the future.

Ultimately, I'm hoping that eventually they would add some sort of co-op missions, as well as some different multiplayer game modes.

I'd really like to see a type of "horde" mode where you can work together to kill waves of enemies.

Agreed! It would be so cool to see the Arcade Mode with Co-op of some sort. I know that isn't exactly a "Horde" mode, but it would be a blast to play with a friend or two...or three

And I again agree with the co-op missions, but I wish they'd continue from the end (you know what I am talking about). Now wouldn't that be something? Huh, huh?

Love the game! Just finished it the other night! I do not understand how it is 3-5 hours long. It took me some time (I was, however, playing it on Hard lol ). So much fun...

Now I am looking for a co-op partner! (hint hint)

I think if there will be, it's most likely some add-on for the multiplayer like more mask or few extra guns or something.

It would be nice play that level before Kane arrives in Shanghai (you know the one from trailer) but I won't hold my breath.

I'm sure when it gets released people will then procede to complain that you can't play that level in co-op ...

Since , well , at some point of the level those with Kane dies ...

Unless the co-op player plays as the cop/thug chasing after Kane ...

First competitive co-op scenario ? ...

It's been revealed that masks are attached to the characters. So it depends on the character you play.

And yeah, I think the maps from Dead Men could be interesting. I might actually buy that.

Don't thank me, but here is the original post;

Liam
Jean
