Hi... well I'll try and help.

Firstly, it's worth pointing out that Eidos is now a label owned by Square Enix Europe, which is a publisher that was recently set up after the acquisition which saw the Japanese firm Square Enix buy Eidos.

So Eidos is owned by a Japanese company now, but I still work out of head office in London for Eidos, but as part of Square Enix Europe (which in turn is owned by Square Enix, which also owns Taito).

The corporate philosophy (http://www.square-enix.com/eng/company/philosophy.html) and culture of Square Enix is refreshingly charming, as is their mission statement:

To spread happiness across the globe by providing unforgettable experiences.

If the UK based arm of a larger publisher is still relevant to you, could you give me a little more indication of what structure detail you need? I'll do my best to help.

Compare and contrast organisation structures used in your organisations

This is the first question of 6.

Now what I'm thinking and taught is to what and how the organisation is oragnized. In what format is the work distributed. How do they go on about their departments.Span of control(chain of command) Culture as in what and how is their work culture for eg a work office and style would be different of the uk as compared to the us.You know thats the difference I need to put out there for the two companies like Ea and Eidos who obviously work in very different ways. You know how all the culture effects the business performance.

Hope im making sense hehe :)

Yeah and eidos or sq has its base is UK as well right Id like that information anyways really appreciated mate (sorry for some typos.Typing faster than usual lol)

Well, in answer to your question, I would say the western style of working is pretty similar across Europe and the US. Although Eidos has its head office in the UK, it is global and we have studios in San Francisco, Copenhagen, Shanghai, London, etc. Without wanting to stereotype, the English are always plucky, willing to get stuck in and overly polite, the Germans are highly efficient, the Americans are very direct and the French are always late

The office culture is relaxed and informal, making it a great place to work. You don't have to dress formally and there aren't other such restrictions in place. However, long hours and hard work are expected, but that's OK because everyone enjoys their job.

There is however a major difference between eastern and western business culture. From my limited experience, I know the guys at the Square Enix head office in Tokyo come into work at about 10am, and then they tend to work through until about 11pm or even later. They're often online in the office at around 1am their time.

With regard to the organisational structure... have a look at this .pdf (http://www.square-enix.com/eng/pdf/news/20090422_02en.pdf) which was released at the time of the acquisition.

Although it's now slightly out of date, the images on slides 7, 17 and 18 combined with my information above might be helpful.

(Now that's a fun way to spend my lunch break :nut: )

Heh, I'm sure loads of others also left it to the last minute. I always do my stuff at the last minute... unfortunately, in doing an art course like me, you can't exactly contact ancient painters to find out the meanings behind their work like you could contact Keir from Eidos. Lucky you :p
