View Full Version : Saitek controller - movement inverted?

Got the demo and tried it with my Saitek controller, movement is inverted, ie.e he walks away when the controller is pressed down, instead of walking towards the camera. Changes in settings have no effect.

I did a quick Google and apparently I need to buy an XBox controller to play the game? Ain't gonna happen.

Found an emulator, couldn't figure it out.

I'm, assuming/hoping there will be a patch for the full game that adds proper control options and customisations (that every game should have).

Until then, it's a lost sale here.

Did you see the thread I made about this a week or two ago?

Yeah unfortunately games with the "Games for Windows" label only support X-Box 360 controllers. It is claimed that they do this to standardize development on multiple platforms, though this excuse doesn't really hold water, as DirectX already has a far superior API using standard DirectInput, and PS3s obviously don't use 360 controllers. The only real reasons I can think of are laziness or greed on Microsoft's part. Unfortunately, it's probably the latter, seeing as re-assigning controllers is one of the simplest aspects of porting a game. Most telling though, is that directinput is also Microsoft just like xinput (360 controller only) is, which suggests to me that it's a licensing thing to sell Microsoft gamepads.

Anyway, I don't know what emulator you tried, but I use one called x360ce vibmod and it works perfectly with Batman:AA using my Thrustmaster gamepad. Comes with a nice little calibration tool so you can properly map your controller buttons and analog stick to match the 360s. Then you just copy .dll and config files provided into the batman EXE directory and your controller should work just fine. I know it's an unnecessary hassle, but this particular game is worth it IMO.

Here's the link to download it...

Hope that might help.

Hi

Thanks. I have been playing around with it for a while now and have all the keys mapped in the ini file great, apart from the X360's Right Analog which is going left when I push up and UP when I push LEFT and DOWN when I push RIGHT.

Any ideas?

Left Analog X=3
Left Analog Y=-6
Right Analog X=1
Right Analog Y=-2

Try changing one of the right analogs to "S" for slider instead of "X" or "Y". Thats what I had to to do, because I didn't know beforehand that one of my gamepads right analog axis' was registering as a slider.

It doesn't move at all if I do the S prefix. So I have one anaolgue, the D-Pad and the 4 ABXY buttons working, but no shoulder buttons and no second analogue. Not sure if that's enough to play or I might just have to stick with the keyboard :o(
