View Full Version : Things that I think needs to be changed

Hi, I'm a new person on the forums, and after discovering this game a few months ago, I have a few things to say.

After watching the newest gameplay trailer,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8BOtdFUDdFI

I noticed a lot of things about the game.
Now I'm not trying to compare the game with GTA 4 nor am I trying to judge this game a year before it is even going to be released. So Don't flame!

First off, FX. Graphics. They look awesome. However, the explosions look very 2 dimensional and cartoony, and we haven't seen a lot of vehicle destruction yet. What I mean by vehicle destruction is having parts of the vehicle fall off, making the whole chassis break in half, etc. Maybe it'll be too much for any system to handle when it's such a huge open world. But if anyone saw that Battlefield Bad Company 2 trailer, didn't you think the destruction of the helicopter was awesome? The guy shot the tail of the helicopter and the tail broke in half while the rotor flew someplace else. I also think the sounds of the explosions and the missiles could be improved. The sound of a "whoosh" kind of sound when a rocket fires, and a huge "boom" when something explodes.

IMO, so far the explosions kind of look pathetic. I mean, if you shot a rocket into a gas station wouldn't you see like a huge explosion? In such a huge open world, why not have huge explosions?

Another thing, is the vehicle handling. I don't know what the vehicle handling is like because i've obviously never played the game before. But after finishing Just Cause 1, the vehicle handling was ****. In Just Cause 1, you couldn't even move the camera freely like you could do in GTA. The camera follows with you when you're driving, and that alone ticks you off when you're driving up a cliff and you can't see ahead. Plus, Just Cause 1 was so dependent on using the parachute, that the vehicle handling didn't feel different for each vehicle, and it felt like you were riding a go-kart. Please change this. People like me would rather drive a car and smash into other vehicles rather than flying there using a parachute. And also please find a way to make the vehicle camera freeroam. Maybe not for the attack helicopter, since you have to aim with it, but for normal vehicles. We want to be able to look at the model and admire the car when we drive it. Or admire the surroundings when driving.

When entering the vehicles, the character teleported in when you were close to it. In Just Cause 2, you enter the helicopters with an animation, so why not for all the vehicles in the game? It would make you think twice before spending your time to jump in a vehicle when you're in a middle of a gunfight. Otherwise, the player can find a car, press one button and teleport inside it, and simply start running everyone over when in trouble.

I know the game is all WIP, but these are some things that I haven't seen yet in the game and want the developers to consider.

(My english isn't that good, so excuse me)

First off im gunna "flame" you. you have no right bashing a game when you just join a forum a do no research at all. it has been said that the videos we have seen so far are from the early progress of the game and that there has been many updates. the game is also supposed to be unrealistic, it was made that way. you dont like it go play COD. in the newest mini doc is shows rico opening the top of the jet when he got out. And trust me if you were a developer and you had to pick from either some one trashing your game or from a player going off of facts who would you talk to in order to get things "to consider"?

That IS flaming. YOU get your facts straight before you start flaming. I never bashed this game. I mentioned this so many times on the post that you couldn't possibly miss it. These were suggestions so that they improve the work that they have now. Otherwise, without any suggestions from the consumers, how the hell would you be able to please them?

Edit : Oh yeah, this game is of course SUPPOSED to be unrealistic since he flies around in a parachute. They made it that way so its purely fun. Hmmm... I wonder why they made all the objects destructible? It's realistic so it shouldn't belong in the game right?

PolimerJ' said he was going to flame you.

Anyway, knowing it's a work in progress, it's only reasonable to have concern, not assume, or come off as assuming, that these issues are a reflection of the final product. At this point, it would be safer to think of those things as placeholders while expressing your hopes that they won't be in the final product.

I think its too soon for such specific criticism.

I think its too soon for such specific criticism.

Maybe, but I've seen many games in development and things that expected the final product to be didn't happen.
My logic : The earlier the game is criticized, the more time to think about any changes that should or can be made.

Just a note : The game looks so polished and finished already that I thought the release would be before March. Don't you think it's time yet?

They have had criticism from day one from Jc1. We all loved it here, but that face the facts it was not a perfect game. They know all these things already. You think your the first one to say Jc1 had bad driving mechanics or that it looked dumb when Rico teleported into a vehicle. If so don't. Go take a look at the Jc1 forum, I wasnt even a part of the forum and I know that it is full of bashing.

And about the buildings blowing up being realistic, i dont even know what to say other than dont be stupid.

Qouted so I can rember what I was gonna post about :nut:

But ya, I tottaly agree with your post. Not the things you are concerned about, but that it's okay to put out some critisim.

Yes, the game is WIP. But Mycoldman himself said that the Mini-Docs, Podcasts, Trailers etc are all filmed in advance. There not put together the day before it's released. He said that alot of the things have already been changed.

And in response to your specfic critisim's. I agree with you about explosions in general. When you shoot a explosive barrel, it blows up really tiny, and with a pitiful sound, not at all like in Just Cause 1. Same with greandes. From what I've seen they have a tiny explosion with a pitiful sound.

But to your others. I'm pretty sure they have been said to be fixed. Vehicle handiling looks good from what we've seen so far, nothing at all like Just Cause 1, and teleporting into vehicles looks to be fixed also. If my memory is right, Rico does tele into that one tank thing in the desert video, but like the devolpers said before, it's all WIP. They probaly don't have all the vehicle entry animations done.

You really don't know how to read do you?

I wasn't bashing this game. Like I said games that I expected to be a lot more improved from the trailer wasn't improved at all when they were released. I'm sure these were placeholders and the vehicle entry animations haven't been done yet. But the fact is, after listening to what people want, some companies don't even bother improving anything because they don't have enough time. Maybe it's just me. After seeing a lot of games under development, and being disappointed so many times with the final product, maybe I said things too early. But it's better early than late right?

Edit : Oh yeah, "And about the buildings blowing up being realistic, i dont even know what to say other than dont be stupid." That sentence doesn't even make sense.

once again if you did any research at all you would know that the first v-log is going to be a video showing the updates they had made and how far the game has come. if you want to point out things then thats fine by me and yes criticism is good, but until you know your talking out your donkey

At random:
- Get rid of the swastika styled healthsign in jc 2, not cool.
- Better sound samples, less cutoff Especially wind effects, more diverse city sound fx.
- Tunnels though the mountains. Natural caves.
- Hightech enterable Buildings, underground bases that needs pass cards (ala metal gear)
From real life this would be the D.U.M.B's. Of course with some obscure mind control super soldier testing.
- Infiltrate and exfiltrate missions.

So happy lush and green above ground... and of course occult high tech below. :thumb:
