I'm stuck before Zsasz.
First, this is not a problem caused by conflict with windows messenger.
The general command for input language shift (English <-> Chinese) happens to be Ctrl + space. So, this game basically is unplayable while this problem persists.
Uninstalling Chinese doesn't help, and the Chinese input still remains there for some reason (they say it's a Vista bug).
I've been looking for the solution on the internet for hours, and no one seems to be able to solve this problem. Once Chinese is installed, the game can't be played.
If the game allowed reassignment of keys, it wouldn't be a problem.
Please help.

It actually allows. You can use BmLauncher.exe in the Binaries directory.

Ctrl-Space is also a hotkey for MSN messenger - Messenger traps the keypress and processes it before the game has a chance to see it.
Language shift is ordinarily mapped to Alt-shift, at least on the systems I've used (including Vista). Possibly you have a sys admin who prefers it the other way, or maybe Asian languages are done differently to European ones.
At any rate, just run the Launcher, by opening the games menu in the Vista start menu, right clicking the Batman game icon, and selecting 'Launcher'
You can also use Caps Lock, to toggle crouch on and off.

Have you tried changing the keystroke for IME change? I've had Windows Vista before and I was able to get Ctrl-Space to work by changing the keystroke for toggling Chinese IME to something else. With Windows 7 though, changing it does not work; the Ctrl-Space gets intercepted even though the config is showing other keystrokes. It worked once I fully uninstalled the Chinese IME from regional settings.
As mentioned by others, you may want to try reassign the keys instead. Another alternative is to use a game controller instead of mouse/keyboard.

i have this problem too, i just changed crouch button to left shift... since its closest to left ctrl and its not even used in any other action so that pretty much solved the problem. because everything that needs ctrl+space is actually crouch+space
