Where does a Batman sequel fall into play?

2010: Jonah Hex
2011: Green Lantern, plus a Superman movie has to be already in production

2012 perhaps?

There aren't any plans on Superman movie, actually. (http://www.superherohype.com/news/supermannews.php?id=8689)

I'd say we wait and see after Inception is done. Just like we did when Nolan was doing Prestige.

Thats why I said there HAS to be one already in production by that time or Siegel/Shuster could sue DC for any lost revenue of a movie not already in production. DC would have to pay royalties out the ass, so unless they want to lose a ton of money there will be one. 2011 is when they have to be in production, time will tell whether it'll be good or not.

Batman 3 will come at either 2011 or 2012. 3-4 years after TDK, which was 3 years after Begins.

Man i really understand your perspective and someone in Warner Brothers must too, but maybe they just rather wanna pay up instead of making a bad film? Ah well who knows really. >_>

They will lose the rights tho? Wasnt that settled not too long ago that DC HAS to make another Superman film? Before Marvel got Marvelman I think.

We all know this, but the fact of the matter is that they HAVE TO START ONE BY 2011 or else they get sued.

Siegel and Shuster created Superman and debuted him in Action Comics, DC Comics came along and purchased Action Comics. So Superman now becomes DC's property, now I don't know the specifics but there has always been disputes over the creators of Superman and Time Warner. Maybe someone else could lend a hand in explaining this but there was a recent court case where Siegel and Shuster took DC to court wanting to claim royalties over the Superman name (merchandise, etc) but the rights of Superman will be expired by 2011 if DC does not pursue another Superman movie keeping the Superman franchise in their name.

So if DC doesn't want to lose millions of dollars, they're gonna have to shell out a Superman movie

Here's hoping Green Lantern scores another hit for DC.

I'm more excited about Jonah Hex, personally...and no, it isn't because of Megan Fox. She doesn't thrill me in the slightest but what the hey, you can't help who they cast.

Hollywood needs to get away from the CGI special effects craze and do something more nuts and bolts, something that requires more stuntwork and less digital imagery.

Green Lantern is more Sci-Fi and so it needs a bevy of good effects but Hex should be more raw, sandy, and even disgusting.

And don't even get me started on where the Lobo film is going. The plot alone sounds uninspired but we'll have to wait to see what happens.

Thats what I heard awhile back. If DC didnt make another Superman movie by a certain date then they lose the rights. The dispute has been over Action Comics #1 and the character of Superboy. The problem is alot of the artist/writers were independent contractors so its hard to know who actually had claims to the rights. Its says that Siegel left for WW1 and came back to find that DC had purchased the Superboy and had made other stories involved with him. Same as Marvelman/Miracleman the dispute of creative rights has been a long fought battle.

I think the Siegels had a problem cause they thought DC/WB were working together to hold back Superman or his appearances thus losing money for the Siegels.

ahh.. thansk for clearing that up. and as for what viscage was saying. i agree.... to a point. holly wood is centered around special effects and hey...im all for special effects but i think that TDK found a great balance between special effects and actual stunt work... plus special effects saves time and money sso that the rest of the movie is awesomesauce

The problem is that special effects have become the main selling point of most films these days. Less focus is typically put on character development and story...and if there is any, the movie typically does something terribly cliched and has lousy dialogue. Now, I'm not saying there shouldn't be action in an action film. But can you tell me the last time you saw a movie that featured action that was all done without green screens, blue screens, or any sort of CGI digital device? A movie that had terrifically dangerous stunts and staged explosions that looked fantastic?

They don't make 'em like they used to...and it's because they want to save, time, money and energy that you're usually seeing the same type of film over and over when you watch the trailers.

I love the movies, but I fear that Hollywood's CGI-laden, kitschy, cute, and ultimately meaningless output is dumbing audiences down.

It's gotten to a point where I see these trailers like 2012 with massive effects and I think, "Why?" This special effects craze is only escalating and I no longer feel any impact watching them (because I've seen them so many times!)

Now, I must admit that TDK met the balance quite well. But it still suffers from the syndrome Hollywood is propogating. A camera that never stops moving (so that our dear ADD-stricken audience doesn't get bored during those conversations) and that visual sequence at the end with the sonar gadget Batman's wearing as he looks around. TDK was thankfully, for the most part, the exception to the rule.
