View Full Version : Spawning NPC's and Slo-mo?

I've recently thought of an idea. In the predator maps (the ones where you take out henchment 1 by 1), it'd be fun to go behind a henchman and spawn a cop with a rifle or shotgun and watch the two shoot each other to death. OR, you can spawn 2 titan henchmen and let them kick a$$ while i sit back and enjoy the ownage (hopefully if i can do this, i hope someone knows how to flag for friendly vs. enemy otherwise the titan might own me).

Is there anyway to actually spawn NPC's? Cus I'd really enjoy having my own henchmen. It would probably change the whole perspective of story mode.

Another thing that i noticed is missing is yout ability to control slow motion. I mean, if you don't, the only time you'd get a few seconds to think is right before you hit with a critical attack, which really stinks. In Bioshock, you can turn slow motion on and off at your will. I mean, with the slow motion, the combat gets 10X better because all the enemies have close-range weapons, so when they jump at you, you slow down time, aim the shotgun at their head and when they get within 2 inches of you, you blast your powerful shotgun, end slow motion, and watch their corpse fly 30 ft. back. Man, imagine doing that for ALL enemies. Never got tired of that. It's so fun. It's like 300 (the movie) only using guns and with no dismemberment. Anyway, I really want manual slo motion for BAA, it would enhance the combat by ALOT!

Oh, and I won't screw up your little leaderboard. I think it's useless and stupid. All i really want is to use those darn awesome console commands, that is if this game has it.

I'm pretty scared that this game will be doomed for failure and be thrown into my "closet of Oblivion" in which i also have Mass Effect and Mirror's Edge, two of the most stringent Unreal 3 Engine games that would not let you touch their inerts by activating the consoles, and hence fail to offer more fun than it should, which is a bad thing.

No console commands are about.
Maybe some gravity ones but that's it.
NPCs aren't really spawned by the game at all..
There's a binding you can do to have Action Camera, but that only effects certain moves, like Glide Kick and grappling..

What's action cam?

Meh, i could only hope for this game to be better than Mirror's Edge. Well, my hope died.

In Mirror's Edge, the command you can have is 3rd person and, as it seems, this game has a limited number of usable commands as well.

Well bear in mind this game's been out for bearly a month.
They might release an Unreal Editor yet!

Well, you can toy around with the level loader a bit. Take a look at the "Working level select (ini file modding)" post.

Here's the Action Cam

Alright I searched high and low for how to do the cool glide-kick action cam thing on a PC, but just found other people asking the same question. I decided to figure it out myself. I'll spare you the story of everything I went through to get to this point, but I'll share if asked. :)

First - the batarang camera is part of the default keyboard setup - hold the right mouse button to aim, then use the R key instead of the left mouse button. Most of you probably already knew that but I wanted to throw that in there before I get to the other stuff.

There is no button bound to the Action Cam in the default keyboard layout, and nothing you can change in the bindings screen to make it work either. I'm assuming is a bug or glitch that will hopefully be fixed by release (or at least patched aftewards), but here is how you can make it work:

First, I'm basing these instructions on the default keyboard mapping, and binding the Action Cam to the crouch button (Left Control). If you want it somewhere else, you can probably figure it out.

Find the file named UserInput.ini on your computer. The location of this file will differ depending on your operating system and configuration, but for me, on Vista, it was under My Documents\Eidos\Batman Arkham Asylum Demo\BmGame\Config.

Open the file and find the line that contains "LeftControl". For me it was on line 11. The whole line looks something like this:
.Bindings=(Name="LeftControl",Command="Stealth | CancelBatarangCamera | CancelGadget | ExitAgilityMode | HangFromVantagepoint", Shift=false, Control=false, Alt=false, bIgnoreShift=false, bIgnoreCtrl=false, bIgnoreAlt=false):META:COM_CROUCH,0,-1,-1,"bCrouchButton",false,false,CI_Crouch,CI_Cancel,CI_HangFromVantagePoint

Look at the text in quotes following the word "Command=". Insert " | StealthOrGadget" before the closing quote. The whole line should now look like this (you can just copy this and replace the whole line if you like):
.Bindings=(Name="LeftControl",Command="Stealth | CancelBatarangCamera | CancelGadget | ExitAgilityMode | HangFromVantagepoint | StealthOrGadget", Shift=false, Control=false, Alt=false, bIgnoreShift=false, bIgnoreCtrl=false, bIgnoreAlt=false):META:COM_CROUCH,0,-1,-1,"bCrouchButton",false,false,CI_Crouch,CI_Cancel,CI_HangFromVantagePoint

Save the file, run the game, enjoy the awesomeness.
