Windows Vista?

Vista standards are that game icons should appear only in the Games folder

Why exactly are you using GFWL?

From what I have seen it has been nothing but trouble.

You can right-click and drag the shortcut from the games folder onto the desktop (then click on "copy here"... thats what I do

Or you can select Pin to Start Menu when right clicking on the icon in the Games Menu.

I prefer to do what Lanarian does. Drag the shortcut from the games folder onto the desktop.

The Games Explorer shortcut can be customised. By right clicking you can go to the Launcher for example.
I add in links to other places like Save Games or the Manual too. Plus I like to change the icons and make my own ones too.

For example I made the top icon for my main BAA link. The bottom one is the original.

Don't knock GFWL, i think it's good that microsoft are pushing pc gaming, having a multi billion dollar company on your side is no bad thing.

In win 7 i pin my most used programs to the task bar, it's nicer than the one in vista.
