Alright, hi there. I'm Twill˙, the guy who has been ranting on and on the good things about this game, but alas, all good things must come with complications...here's my concern.

I own the 360 version, so not sure if this is the case with other versions, but I really need a dev to look into this. I makes the game not replayable.

Okay, so I beat MINI NINJAS on medium difficulty and got all the achievements except the one for completing it on hard. Fair enough, I really like this game. I did not mind playing over and over and over, so I switched the difficulty and went on my way....ok, so here's the part that stumped me.

I cannot start a new campaign. I'm left with all the levels unlocked, everything found, etc etc. I figured, hey, maybe if I start the first level it'll recognize a new story and reset everything. WRONG. I started the first level and everything was complete. No finding Futo, no talking to the master, nothing. Just had to make it to the end. Ok. Next level.

"Quit Level" or "Continuing Playing"? Where is my "Next Level" option? Okay, maybe quit will do something...Nope, it sends me to the main menu. Hmmm.....ok? I start the second level manually. Woah now....I have all my the characters from the previous game and all of my items, money, spells.....ok. This will not do. What's the point in playing over if I already have everything? No ninjas are in cages, no spells are to be found, the levels are now just simple run throughs....I proceeded to run through every level and ended up getting my achievement for beating the game on hard. *Note - after every level I had to QUIT and manually start the next level*. I'm now disappointed. I actually wanted to play it on hard and start from scratch. Why was everything unlocked? Why could I not start a new adventure? This is a serious cut in replayability....infact unless I just feel like owning everything I come across now with all the ninjas for no purpose, I really have got an unplayable game here.

I love this game, please, oh please....will someone direct this to a devs attention and hopefully throw a patch towards the 360, please? I want to play this again, many times infact, but right now, this is not possible. I'm thinking maybe it was something you did not intend. I'm sure it'd be a relatively simple fix, but I am not a dev so I am in the dark. I'd just really like to continue playing this game. Hope someone can answer this and I hope it's brought to the attention of those who can help. Otherwise, still an amazing game!

XOXO - Twill˙

Edit - *Sorry, I didn't realize we had a tech thread for Mini Ninjas! If a Mod wants to move this there, that'd be great! That was my mistake for not looking.* :mad2:

So you got the hard trophy for playing through empty levels with no enemies?

And there's no 'new game' option in the main menu?

..dodgy

...really!?! When you re-play a level there's no enemies!?

EDIT: Of course if you want to re-start the game you can just delete your save data, but there's surely a way to re-start from within the game...

No, there was enemies, but like....I had all the characters, items and spells I had beaten the previous game with, from the get-go. Also, story-related things like the first level training and finding all the ninjas were gone. So running through was simple....enemies on level 2 didn't stand a chance with Tora or Meteor Storm and a million health potions....the point is though, I don't understand why I can't restart. Play a new, fresh campaign. It's really bogus. I've never tried deleting my save games on a 360 and I don't really want to try. Nor do I think I should have to, to play this game over again, you know?

I just want answers and maybe a simple patch. = ) As I said, I believe this was over-looked or not anticipated...

Any news? I'd really like to hear back on this. It's bugging the piss out of me! :mad2:

I think your only solution is to delete your savegame and start the game from start in hard mode.

You are really not loosing much, as you will unlock everything again.

You should be able to change the difficulty in the Options and go and play through each level individually again to unlock additional achievements. I am investigating this with the Development team at the moment to see if there are any other options.

You rock for checking into it....I can go into options and play the game on a different difficulty, but the game doesn't reset. I have to choose each level manually after each level I beat and I have all the stuff from the previous game which makes this not fun. I don't know if I'm making a clear point about this. What is the point in playing the game again when you start out with all your powers, ninjas and millions of items? If it were to be set up like this then I'd of figured they'd of put at least 3 saves like normal games, and having the option to delete 'in-game'. Maybe I'm assuming too much, but this game may be going back to the store if this doesn't see some attention. As much as I really hate to say that. :(

Edit: This is also not about the achievements, It's about playing the game over again from scratch. Being able to play again and again where the quests and the characters are still findable and I don't start out like an uber monster. >.>

Like I mentioned I am checking into this further for you, but I believe you were looking for a way to unlock the final achievements, which is what I posted about. I do understand your point on this and am looking into other possibilities for this issue.

Will post here when/if I get additional information.

Thanks.

Would you also please look into the Tengu Friend glitch: http://forums.eidosgames.com/showthread.php?t=95705

Yep - I have notified the development team of that problem as well. Have not heard back yet.

Yeah, I suppose that is my fault. I should have worded it better in my first post. I have all achievements. That's not a big deal. Wouldn't of been if it were the issue anyways. But yeah, I appreciate your time for looking into it. I just like this game so much, I'd like to keep playing it. :rasp:

Cheers! Hoping for some good news on a patch maybe! ;)

Still nothing? :(

Is no one else who played this game finding this an issue? Or did everyone just rent it and not care...:hmm:

Just delete your save data Twilly, much quicker and easier than waiting for a change to the game... :)

Keep a backup if you want to be able to restore it.

Ok, this isn't really possible on an Xbox. I'm not running out and buying a memory card, (I don't even know if Xbox 360's have those), regardless, I shouldn't have to. If this were the case, this game should have came with one. And I'm starting to get pissed off now seeing as the game should feature a replay option. I haven't touched my xbox in over a week because everytime I do I remember how stupid I was for thinking that the game should be able to be played more than once.

I don't feel comfortable with erasing things off my hardrive. So thanks IO and Eidos. Great one time run through of your game. You can have it back now.

Deleting your save data will not affect any achievements you already have and will enable you to start a new game. If as you say there is no incentive to replay the levels with all your upgrades why keep the data? You could also create another profile and start a new game, but that seems a lot of work to go to just to replay the game from scratch.

In Tomb Raider Underworld if you start a new game after completing the game you start with everything previously collected still collected. But if you load an earlier save, before the game was finished, start a new game everything is there to be done again. Not having played Mini Ninjas yet I am not sure how the save system works, but if you have an earlier save you might try that. If not delete the save data, replay on your chosen difficulty level but make sure to keep a save from before the game is completed, load it start a new game and see if it resets.

The engine used for this game is the same as the K&L engine - Glacier Engine (at version 2 I think). Unfortunately neither games seem to take full advantage of the graphics engine. I believe Square Enix is hiring for CG programmers so maybe this will mean FMV's in future Eidos game and also an improvement in the graphical quality of games as it would look odd having photo-realistic characters in the FMVs and odd looking characters in the actual game.
