http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/11/livingstone-kane-and-lynch-2-aimed-for-sept-more-hitman-tomb-r/

The article is a few months old, but I hadn't seen this before. Apparently Squaresoft acquired Eidos and this guy Mr. Livingstone seems to know what he's talking about. Says that:

"And also, apparently, great for sequels, as Livingstone confirms work on the next Hitman game, a sequel to Kane & Lynch currently targeted for a September release date and -- big shock! -- a re-imagining of Lara Croft and the Tomb Raider series. "The next Tomb Raider, I think, will surprise a lot of people and reinvigorate the franchise," Livingstone notes, stressing the relevance of game characters in mainstream media these days. Incidentally, he more than intimates that Eidos Montreal is working on Thief 4, though now we know that to be a fact -- the "worst kept secret in the industry," in fact."

 You're kidding me , right ? ...

Jesus Fraking Christ LMAO  ...

I'm sorry but seriously you never heard of this before ? ...
I mean it was exactly this statement by Ian Livingstone that made me and Dr Klowneus so convinced that Dog Days is coming out in September in the first place ...

And for months we've been hyped about it , i never thought you didn't knew where the Source of this Hype came from ...
Awe man i'm so sorry :D ...

PS : Please don't hit me with a truck ...

hmm... I got my initial info from www.hitmanforum.com

so this was news to me. If it wasn't to you, then fair enough. I just want to let everyone know what's been said by the people that seem to know what they're talking about at IOInteractive.

I really hope this president wasn't talking out of his ass... that's just my .02

It's most likely delayed for early 2009 since we've not heard much about the game other than the trade mark titles being registered the other month. I am attending the Euro Gamer event at Leeds this October so I'll see if they have anything to show there :p

Early 2009? or do you mean 2010?

I think it's a better idea aiming for Q1 2010. With all the blockbuster game releases this Q4.

Am i the only one who's REALLY concerned about this? I mean, we haven't seen any Trailer, nor Screenshot of the game and it might still be released this year? I remember the last time a game pulled such a stunt, it was the last Soldier of Fortune. So erm, yeah, that really concerns me.

I doubt he remembers me ,but back in 2007 We were all hyping together for Dead Men ,especially on Peter Stack's "blog" ,man those were good times (this was all before the Gertsmanngate incident)...
And let's not forget his famous arguments against a forum user who stated that Gears of War had a better character development than Kane & Lynch (that happened on the now defunct K&L fansite) ,that was pretty epic...

summer/autumn release date for 2010...
An early 2010 release is not a good idea now that basically "March became the new October",and given the sheer amount of games that are gonna blow holes in our pockets up to June next year ,an August or September release could work since the storm would have settled by then (hopefully)...

However i also said that i'm in favor for a 'sudden' release this year and that's for two simple reasons :

First of ,exclusive titles assides ,what games are coming out this year asside for that game where a man in white goes roof jumping and that shooter who literally scared the whole gaming industry so much they all Decided To Delay Their Games ? Not much really ... I mean there's less than ten games coming this christmas and ,hell ,even that Lego game Does Look Interesting Now ,this is ridiculous ,and this morning i heard that Spy RPG might be delayed as well...
Put it this way , We Need K&L 2 to save our christmas !...

Secondly , i felt that the previ

iews and hype of Dead Men kinda ruined the game...
Kane & Lynch is like a movie ,and usually an action film gets one teaser ,a trailer ,and a few little sneak peaks ,the marketing in a sense must show less of the film to make us wanna see more of it ...
The marketing of Dead Men was different ,and in a bad way ...
It showed too much of the game ,which left us wanting for more once we were playing it ,but not only that ,the whole media was focused on this "alliance between a flawed mercenary and a medicated psychopath",though the game did featured said alliance ,the story just really wasn't about it ,not as its main subject anywya ...
The trailers of the game had this fourty seven guitar based musical theme ,it was a 'hardcore' type if you will and it made the game look like it was a beginning to end killing spree ... then when we start the game what did we saw ? A man writing a letter to his daughter asking for forgiveness along the most depressing theme you've seen in a game ...

gnrGrievous
09-27-2009, 03:51 PM
Kane & Lynch Dead Men is A Drama ,the marketing of the game and the game itself were Two Different games...
That guitar based theme (of which became a fan favorite on youtube) was nearly not even heard once in the game ,it's just crazy...

I think i should point out that i wasn't disturbed or disappointed by the fact that the game itself didn't look like what i saw in the trailers (Game=two damned men trying to do something 'right' despite their questionable morals versus Trailer=two men, both pissed off, blows stuff up ,obviously the game Wins),what i'm actually complaining about is that ,well ,why bother spending months hyping a game ,claiming it to be something that it clearly isn't ,and most importantly ,spoiling us lots of levels and story details in the process ?...

Besides ,everyone knows what Kane & Lynch is now ,no need to Re-Hype it ,because in the end those who like Kane & Lynch will buy it and those who hate it just by reading the reviews won't ,nothing can change that...

Kane & Lynch has achieved cult status and we are the cult following. It's up to us to carry the torch, because everyone before us is too busy playing Halo.

Seriously though, October is gonna be big for KL2... I have very high hopes. I think October will get a suprise release.

I don't play Halo, just a K&L fan who mostly lurks here than anything else. :D

There wont be a K&L2 released this year. As for media you can expect that either sometime towards the very end of this year or early next year. at best. ;)

For the sake of the franchise I hope A) IOI has listened to player feedback and tries to improve on nearly every aspect and B) the game is marketed with a good marketing campaign like other games have (e.g. Batman: Arkham Asylum).

I remember you Mr. G. I remember you all. It was an awesome time back then. I remember how all of us followed the blog closely and how many of us enjoyed Peter Stack's death. Awesome times indeed. I don't like to remember the arguments with the guy who thought that GeoW had a better character development than K&L. It really saddened me. I was never gone, the community became quieter until i couldn't hear it anymore. I was still looking into the forums a few times, deleting all the porn and ****, until it died.

It's a shame that the Multiplayer never really worked well which is why i stopped playing the game. I really enjoyed the Multiplayer. I just wish Io-I had done more with it. It's the most intense Multiplayer experience i've ever had. You and one guy are the only survivor of your team. Both of you are waiting for the Chopper to pick you two up. You have a million, he has a million. Every enemy is dead. You both wait. And wait. And wait. But, hey wait a second. Oh my god, what if he's waiting for the perfect time to kill me? Maybe he's greedy enough to do that. Or maybe he thinks that i want his money? He can't be really thinking about it. But what if he does? Maybe he really wants my money. What? Is One freaking million not enough for you? Do you really need to have more? Really? Is the highscore so important to you? HM?! Alright sucker, i won't wait any longer, it's either you or me, and i'm not going to let you take my cash, you son of *****, i earned it. DIE! And then you kill him and he writes you through GFWL and he's like: "Why the **** did you do that?"

As i said, the most intense multiplayer experience i ever had.

I do re-play the game from time to time, as i still enjoy the action and the distinctive adrenalin-filled gameplay, but not the multiplayer.

You know , sometimes i think that person who praised Gears of War was none other than dear old Jeff ...

Seriously i could totally see him do that ...

As for the multiplayer ... well to begin with i normally only touch single player , so i never cared about the online aspect , but this being a IO Interactive game i had to try it out ...
I played for a few days , it had its moments , but you could feel that it was never really IO's ... thing ...
Which is probably why last year the branch working on Fragile Alliance went on to form their own studio , Reto-Moto (SO that's what Reto-Moto's company is about , it's a japanese game developer !) , so that they can focus solely on multiplayer , while IO does what it do best , single player experience ...
All that to say next time we see Fragile Alliance it'll surely work out better ...

PS : is Peter Stack's death video still on youtube ? i can't find it , but boy would i love to see it again ! :D ...

But the fact is he died at 16:47 ...
And coincidentally , both 16 and 47 are part of my favorite numbers ...
So ...

Maybe the hamsters are indeed spying on us ...

By the way , how come none of us ever thought of copying his articles before the blog was shut down ? I recall that for a viral web site whose purpose is to promote a video game it has got some pretty well written articles (notably the ones where he talks about dealing with his past by drinking whiskey) ...

Plus , who can ever forget Lynch's 911 call ? ...

I don't want to rain on everyone's parade here but if they would have spent HALF as much time and money on advertising as they could have on developing the game and fixing the bugs and adding content then we'd be playing a lot better game then we are now.

Marketing and advertising is great and all but it's the frosting on the cake. We need a solid cake first or all that frosting means nothing.

Kane & Lynch is your favorite game of all time?

In all honesty, Kane & Lynch is also one of my favorite games of all time.

The first time the game caught my attention, was when the GameSpot video review hit the web. I trusted Jeff's opinion and condemned it to a piece of crap. Then one night, when I was screwing around in the Xbox Live Marketplace I found the K&L demo floating around, and thought to myself "Pff, let's see what this load of crap is about".

I played the demo over and over again - Till I bought it the next day.

I LOVED IT.

The gritty story, the characters, the atmosphere. There was something special about the game. The multiplayer was also a fresh new expereince.

*Goes back to playing the waiting game*

I've heard a lot of reviewers crap on a lot of games that I thought were amazing. I don't even read reviews when I buy games. I buy games based on my own research. I don't need someone else to tell me something I can find out for myself.

In the end i always buy the games i know I Want To Play ,no matter how bad the reviews are and ,surprisingly ,i also enjoyed them alot more than the games that get a overall score of 90/100...

I don't know ,maybe i have a bad taste in gaming ,but i tend to ... dislike ,the games that the critics give unanimous praise ,not always hate these games ,but i just find them to be nothing worthy of its praises ...

I actually read the reviews twice ,once before i bought the game and another after playing the game ,i do it just for fun really ,i like criticizing critics ...
That being said i have noticed that reviews are getting rather useless nowadays ,because everyone seems to have an identical point of view and there's rarely any differences in their opinion on a game's story for example ,they either all like it ,all hate it ,or all missing the point ...

It'll be interesting to see critics re-review a game after a couple of years ,see if they can spot the overrated/underrated games ...

No ****, Sherlock. 8)

But as far as i know IoI has nothing to do with marketing the game. That's Eidos job.
