I need to perfect my voice acting (Yeah, I am an actor!:D) and I figured, in the spirit of the game releasing, I'd like to practice the Joker.
I wasn't sure whether or not to do Heaths or Mark Hamils, though I presume it would be easier to do Heaths (don't know why, just do). I have searched, but found nothing, so forgive me if there is something.:O
Anyway, tip me away please!
EDIT: I noticed he emphasises some words, and he likes his lips alot, smacking them between some words.

i read somewhere that the licking thing he does is a natural reaction you would have if you had a chelsea smile like he does. i cant quite remember the reason given, something to do with dried blood in his mouth?... anyway, hope that helps a little, good luck with the acting!

The best research you could probably do is listening to him

i agree just listen to joker in the game or go back and watch the dark knight and decide for yourself.

For Voice Acting, and acting in general (also one here, as well as a Director, so both ends of the spectrum), the best advise is to observe. You're basically talking about doing an impression here. You need to observe the nuances of the mannerisms, by both watching them, if possible (i.e. Watch the Dark Knight performance for Heath a lot), and by listening. Even in the Animated Series and in this new game, the mannerisms of the animated counterparts to Mark Hamill being created in the animated Joker, or the rendered one, offer up all of the visual understanding that he saw and laid within his voice that part of him. It's a symbiosis, like a connection of life force, that you just don't hear but you can feel within the character. Try and just listen and watch carefully, basically...
Beyond that foundation, thinking on what the motivation is behind what those two actors are saying as their characters, what they want and why they want it. What emotions they're feeling, by relating yourself to their mindset. Why they want something and what is happening to them, you have to relate to in order to feel what they're feeling, and this produces, hopefully, a similar response to fuel your voice much the same way they reacted.
