bat-family questions

back in the day bruce wayne was batman and **** grayson was robin, now theres damien, tim, todd, etc. considering im just now getting back into batman, can anyone explain who these people are and how they fit into the batman universe

Best way to find out is to type their names in on wikipedia, since this will be a lot of explaining.

Yeah, it would take a while. In fact, there's so much information a lot of us would have to add on to each other to answer, but I'll help ya.

Richard Grayson- His pearents died at a circus accident and Bruce took him in.

Jason Todd- A simple street pickpocketer and tried to steal a wheel off the batmobile and Batman took him in as the new Robin because Richard became Nightwing. He was beaten to death by Joker with a steel pipe.

Tim Drake- Figured out who Batman was and figured that without a Robin Batman is almost insane after the Jason incident. So Bruce really had no choice but to let him be Robin.

Damian Wayne- I believe he was a cloned son of Batman And Talia Al's Ghul and was raised in the league of assasins and it actually Richard's sidekick, he just got the mantle of Robin recently.

That wiki link I posted says that Grant Morrison changed the story of how Damien was conceived. He might be cloned now for all I know. That would kind of suck though. Son of the Demon is one of my favorite Batman stories, they should have stuck with that version.

okay, let me see if i get this. grayson grows up and becomes nightwing, gets replaced with jason todd who ends up getting killed by the joker, and is then replaced with tim drake. after bruce gets "killed" by darkseid, drake becomes batman and damein becomes robin. and now everyone and their mother, including jason todd, is now fighting to become the next batman.

Actually yes, this is regarding Hush, Bruce Wayne's childhood friend who turned evil, he had performed plastic surgery on himself to look like Bruce, and is now spending A LOT of the Wayne's fortune, but **** and Damien have him under close watch, they can't say anything to the public because he knows their secret identities.

Actually, Apple, forum member of dcuo-unlimited had an interview with Jim Lee, and it's coming soon, Jim is doing a center page fold out of the Gotham skyline ;)

This may not be cannon, but when **** Grayson left the Batcave to head up the New Teen Titans, the Jason Todd storyline was heating up in the 'Batman' title. I think **** Grayson leaves Wayne Manor and gives Bruce Wayne an excuse when he is heading out to form up the ol' team again in 'The New Teen Titans" no.1. Anyway, he gives up being Robin in 'TNTT' no 16 (I think) rather suddenly and with no lead up from no. 15. It just so happens the same month, Bruce Wayne offers Jason Todd the Robin role in the 'Batman' title.
