So, the eve of the release of B:AA is almost upon the majority of us who were not so fortunate to have our wait put to an end with early releases.
It has been fun coming here over the past months and seeing what new pics, vids or tidbits popped up around the web for this game. We eagerly awaited any news about a potential demo and then the wait for that announcement seemed so long. Now, with the game nearly upon us and the fact that all facts about the game will be known in a few short days or weeks depending upon our own playthroughs, the mystery will be gone. This board will maintain a level of talk about what we liked/disliked and would like to see in a sequel. However, the wait will be long before we know anything about a sequel. It is sad, but alas all good things must come to an end. So, it has been fun. With that I would like to ask this question. When was it in the development period of this game when you first got really excited?
For me, it was around Christmas of this past year. I knew about the game when I read about it in the initial coverage in GI. I looked at the scheduled release date and thought, well it will be awhile. I always liked batman as a hero but never really got into the GN a whole lot, but loved TAS and all the movies. Then around Christmas I started reading more and more about the game and that combined with my love of insane asylums, I began to read more and more of the GNs and re-watched TAS. Then, it was a matter of reading anything about the game I could get my hands on and eventually creating a membership here over the last two months to discuss it with you all. What a journey. Now, the board is filling up with new users and the majority of the posts over the next few weeks will be questions about gameplay. Not as interesting as things have been, but it will still be good to be on a board dedicated to those who like this game and Batman.
Cheers.

Do not fret, dear Bat-Fans, for the forums shall still be alive for a few more weeks.
But alas, one day it will end, and we will have to move on.
So spend your remaining days here with care.

Oh ffs.
This board should be turned from a B:AA board and into a --- Batman Board --- PERIOD.
This way, we can discuss Batman comics, games, movies, memoribilia, and whatever else. Even the Animated Series!

This reminds me of the spidey's web forums which were probably the best part about spiderman 3 's experience. Who knows maybe we'll like the forums experience more than the actual game's experience

I agree. I think that Eidos needs to modify this board into sections where like you say, a section for batman comics, movies, games and other stuff could be divided up into a nice Batman community.

It would be great, just think of it, a Batman forum christened by the creation of the ONLY true Batman game to ever exist!

To ever exist up till now. Wait till we get a sequel, then we will be saying the same hopefully about that one.

I first got excited about this game a year ago when I saw pictures on IGN. July or August 08, fresh off the high from The Dark Knight. It got me excited about Batman all over again.
It's been a fast year, but at the same time, it's felt like an eternity.
It was the whole reason I got an xbox. Almost every other game except Halo 3 has been some kind of a let down. Maybe I just can't find the right games, but I suspect it's been that the reason I got the Xbox was for Batman (and Halo).
I don't think I'll be leaving the board. But I do know that I'll miss the build up, the excitement. You hate it while it's there, you just want the game to COME OUT, but when it does...you miss the adrenaline rush, the excitement.
Fortunately, the demos I've played (Gamestop and the one we've waited for), have ensured me that this will be the ultimate gaming experience for me, so it won't be a disappointment (regardless of the ending - the fact that I have a definitive Batman experience to jump into at any time is the reason I'm getting the game).
But still, the wait is always a treasured part that shouldn't be despised.

There are three noticeable moments where my excitement got boosted up to a new level:
1) The first pics. Seeing the Joker, I knew the developers were on to something. I kept my eye on it.
2) The Environment trailer. I heard rumours of the voice cast, but when I watched this trailer I first thought "Yeah, this looks pretty cool." Then MARK ******* HAMILL started laughing. That put me on the prowl for this game.
3) The Silent Predator video. I'd seen the graphics, the environment, knew who was starring and who was writing. I wasn't sure about Rocksteady though, never played one of their games. But when I saw the Predator Challenge map I knew it was gonna be great.

Of course, we could have the sub-category where people like mr. Jables can express their pent up feelings with other like minded users. What shall it be called? Any ideas? Perhaps "people who just don't care"

If Eidos really wanted to be creative with this whole sub-category thing. Perhaps they could model it off of Arkham Asylum.
Intensive Treatment - to discuss plots and sequels.
Medical Facility - to discuss help threads.
Cell blocks - to discuss Batman in general.
Arkham Mansion - to discuss comics and anything Batman related in film and tv.
Well, you get the idea. Right?

I imagine that a successful sequel will spawn a fansite for the series. See you then?

Iamtombombadil, it was the same for me, though over the last year with the release of the Dark Knight, that's when I just went insane with the GNs. I haven't followed the current storyline though I know that **** took over as Batman, but I've been buying a few GNs every week steady since I saw TDK and read the GI article. It's been a crazy few months and it just seems like Tuesday is taking forever. I have a concert my wife and I are going to today, but really after that I'll probably just watch everything DCAU-related until Tuesday... Bet I ddon't even finish TAS before Tuessday. I remember when I first got the series DVDs. It nothing but TAS for three days, LOL!
Anyway, it's been good getting to know you guys, and let's hope to back sometime next year. Because now that they've laid the ground work, if a sequel is announced, it shouldn't be too far away.

I'd love to work on a full on fansite with you guys. I mean I'm no graphical savant by any means but I'm told I'm great writer so I could handle articles and news reports... I think a fan site would be great.

Another section could be:
Arkham shipping and recieving: For trading/buying/selling of batman related merchandise. (i.e. you have a GN you don't read anymore? Trade it with someone and you both win)

It will, but if this forum turned into something (and I don't expect it to, since it is a game forum) I think there are some that would stay.
