View Full Version : Slightly Off-Topic: DCAU (Minus movies) Ended?

Ever since Epilogue, there hasn't been any new DCAU material to continue DCAU's canonical line. And yes, there is one. There's a plot link between every DCAU show. That, for instance, means that DCAU Joker is officially dead, following the events of Batman Beyond: TROTJ. "The Batman" doesn't share the same continuity line as other DCAU shows, so it doesn't count.

I'm asking if DCAU is officially "over".

He's speaking of the DC Animated Universe(DCAU)which was comprised of Batman:TAS,Superman:TAS,Justic League,Justice League Unlimited,Batman Beyond, etc.
TAS means The Animated Series
I would love it if they brought JLU back, but I'm enjoying The Brave and the Bold,so if they ever do decide to have a revival,I can make due til said time with current DC shows and the DCAU movies.

Well, even if they're movie tie-ins, we'll hopefully get a Wonder Woman or Green Lantern series by the time the movies come out. Yeah, I know we just got a DTV feature for each but they'll want to put out something fresh by the time GL drops in 2011. And the Wonder Woman movie is still on the drawing board at this point, so whenever that happens, she'll need to be made relevant again.
I mean Marvel managed to do a good job with the first season of Wolverinf and the X-Men, I'm sure WB animation could use the next two years to craft a great stand alone GL series. Call me crazy, but I've always thought that pushing a GL Corps series as, basically an Intergalactic Law and Order: SVU would be awesome. I think it would be cool to explore the dynamics in the relationships between the key corps members and because it's such a vast organization, Timm and Co. could surely introduce new characters to shake things up. I think I just hyped myself for a GLC series that may never happen. :(

i cant help but think that with last summers success of the dark knight, this summer's soon to be hit wiht batman:arkham asylum (knock on wood) and even with the comic book world with batman dying (kinda) that dc will probibly try to milk this curent bat focus as much as they can, probibly talking to qwarner brothers about making a new series. the recent batman failed as a series but its was certaintly an indicator that batman as a tv show was still bouncing around. who knows, wiht arkham asylum doing well perhaps they will ask paul dini adn the other voice actors if they want to try somethign all over again.
then again, this might be wishfull thinking on my part. :D

the recent batman failed as a series
What? Batman: The Brave and the Bold is one of the most popular cartoons and top watched cartoons there is.
would love to see a 2.5 hour BRUTAL animated version of arkham asylum ( THIS VERSION ) re done by dini, hammil, conroy, etc.
but, yea, i would LOVE to see the bruce timm series brought back, for a more 'adult' flair .
but you would need ALL the same cast ( in animation AND voice work ) .

Just because people watch it doesnt mean its good, take twilight for example....everyone saw it yet it was horrible!

no, i think they meant ' THE BATMAN '
which REALLY sucked. RASTA JOKER with his bare ass feet, and grinch voice............... was the biggest goof and let down i EVER bore witness too in my life......
it was like they let half human japanese kids loose in american folklore.
going for my 1,000 post today !!!

i dont enjoy brave & the bold, but i certainly understand its appeal after talking to people like drazar.
but that ' THE BATMAN ' was a bastardization of the name batman, that made tommy lee jones 2face, seem NOT so gay.
or the whole bat nipple fiasco

The Batman Was VERY successful. It ran for 5 seasons.
It was bad to start, and not alot of people gave it a chance after the first season, But if you did then you were rewarded with some great stuff. Not to mention many voice actors returned for the series from BTAS.
So yes The Batman was in fact very successful, and So is Brave and the Bold. Either aren't nearly the quality level of BTAS though obviously.

i liek brave adn the bold because of how rediculously campy that show is. its a diffrent kind of batman, stuck somwhere between the animated series and adam west's batman. instead of the dark brooding hero we have the over serious defender of justice who takes himself a little too seriously. he comes off funny, and i like that. pluss those lines he uses are just camp gold my freinds.
but THE BATMAN was awfull, just awfull. i saw this one movie they had caled THE BATMAN vs DRACULA, oh god that was terrible. the joker should never ever be anything other then what is is, a psychotic clown.

how the heck where they able to make that show succesfull? it had some really bad charecter designs in it. pluss the plots where pretty bad...
idk, did they thrive off the fact that kids found it to be cool?

Not True. It would of gotten signed for more seasons. It wasn't until the end of the first season, that people really started warming up to it, and the green lit for the second season is signed for. Other batman were all signed for minimum 3 seasons. They were very skeptical about this, and the fact they dont sign for the third season already means there still worried, even after the first season. The reviews overall haven't been that great either.
I personally liked "The Batman" aside from the gorilla joker, I loved the robin intro. It was different from TAS, yet still had a some what serious tune. I just wish there was more episodes with Batman by himself as once bat girl came in it really dropped in quality.
Now, back on to the DCAU, i really hope it hasn't ended. I love this show with a passion, and watch the episodes still to this day even after i've seen them all 10+..I can't do that with any movie not even TDK. My personal favourites are when they all meet in the batcave (season 2)....Green Lanterns trial, and superman fighting Darkseid. OH, and not to forget when superman saves batman as the ship is being plummeted into the reactor.. It brings a tear when batman is saying bye.

I just decided a few weeks back to rewatch the whole of DCAU in viewing order (the best i can anyway) maybe even the more secluded parts Zeta and Static Shock (or at least the crossover episodes)
