Well, it took me a year and a half (been suuuper busy), but I finally beat down Karras and the rest of his metal children in a 6 1/2 hour all nighter to bring Thief II to a close!!!
36 Hours, 13 minutes, 42 seconds of game time (multiply that by 3, and that's how long I actually spent) to finish it.
Pinched 22,623 gold; recycled 2426 damage points worth of Karras' kids, and received in turn 249 damage points from various sources (bombs, poison gas, spears, mallets, giant circular saw blades, swan dives from incredible heights....)
After it was all said and done, though, I still gotta say, Thief: The Dark Project was still tonnnnnns better than Thief II!
Thief II never quite gave me that visceral thrill of running for my freakin' life from a pack of hideously cackling Haunts that the original did (all to often). Come on, who can get intimidated by a walking barrel of bolts talking like Elmer Fudd??! :p
The level designs were hardly awe-inspiring, although there were one or two that I have to give a nod to simply because of their length and wonderful architectural style (Breaking into the Bank, for example....that was a monster)!
The lighthouse one wasn't too bad, also, but other than that, it was like....been there, done that. I almost fell over when the two missions just before the last one were carbon copies of each other! "OK, Garrett, break into the house for a dry run, and then do the exact same thing again....but this time we're gonna triple the guards."
I do recall, tho., the rooftop mission! Now THAT one was probably the highlight of the game! :D
Well, just wanted to report in to the Keepers my finish and also thanks for tips on where some of the secrets were that I never found.
Adios, stay in the shadows, and keep on taffin'!!!
