Question about Challege Maps

i had pre-ordered the game for PS3 before playing the demo and i gotta say i thoroughly enjoyed it. it felt like i was playing like a simpler version of Metal Gear Solid 4. i can't wait now till it comes out.

my only question is this. what are the challenge maps supposed to do? are they going to be available for free download? i ask because i noticed that some stores/sites are offering challenge maps if you pre-order with them. will i be able to download them afterwards myself? or what? when i pre-ordered with amazon they didn't offer challenge map, only a comic book. if there's going to be challenge maps that i won't be able to get, i wouldn't mind pre-ordering from another site.

i also noticed that the collector's edition has the crime ally challenge map. does that mean if you don't get the collector's edition, that you won't be able to get this crime ally map any other way? this game looks so good i'm willing to spend some more for the collector's edition.

anyways i know the game hasn't come out, but hopefully you guys can answer these questions. thanks!

edit: btw i did read the FAQ thread. it talked about some of the challenge maps, but didn't really answer whether i'd be able to get the crime ally map without buying the collectors edition.

Challenge maps is an extra mode in the game where you can test your skills. You unlock them through the main story mode. There are 2 types of challenge maps. Combat challenge maps and Invisible Predator challenge maps. To give you a greater insight into what these exaclty are here are some videos.

[Clown Prince Of Crime]

The challenge maps are challenges outside of the story that you can play when you wish.

There will be combat rooms, where you work on the free-flow-combat and there will be invisible predator rooms in which you work on your stealth.

There will be 10+ maps on the disc, and then around 30 days after the game's release the 'Crime Alley' challenge map and 'Dem Bones' challenge map will hopefully be released on PSN and Marketplace.

oh ok. so the crime ally map will come out just a month after a release. i can wait that out.

i then take it that the special villain challenge map you get when pre-ordering with gamestop will also be available later on after release.

how about the armored batsuit for challenge maps that you get when pre-ordering with walmart, will that be available later on as well?

You can unlock the armoured suit by playing through the main game once again. Anyway these are the easiest challenge maps. Wait for the difficult ones

I didn't pre-order or anything but if you don't feel like waiting 30 days or so i'm pretty sure people will be selling the codes for the challenge maps on ebay.. They did for the uncharted 2 beta and infamous gigawatt blades.. amoung other things.

Thanks guys. I'm going to be in school so I won't be in any rush to get any other maps. I just wanna make sure that when I finally finish the game that I can get my fix and download more content for free. I really can't wait for this game. Aug 25 can't come soon enough.
