View Full Version : Any BAT- TATTOO's ?
was in a very interesting duscussion with someone about our mutual love of tattoo art.
ill let him disclose his identity if he chooses.
my artwork is splashed all over these wonderfull bat pages.
im planning some dc themed artwork for my left arm, in the style of bruce timm's artwork.
does anyone have any current batman / dc ( even marvel / horror movie ) tattoo work done ? i personally would love to see it, as i am an admitted tattoo addict.
i love the art, i love the talent these people possess.
considering i have well over 70 pieces, i would also be willing to answer anyones questions, and or concerns on getting permanent artwork either on here, or in private.
or may be planning on it ?
whip out those superman and bat logo's fella's ( and gals )

I don't have any tattoo's at all but I've been wanting to get a Batman one though for awhile I just haven't had a chance too. My cousin though has the Superman shield on his arm but instead of the usual Superman colors he has it black and blue which are his high school colors. Its pretty cool looking and if I can get him to get me a pic of it I will post it.

I looked all over and cannot find a pic of it, and i unfortunatly dont have any of my pics on my pc atm. But when batman begins came out the card company "Bicycle" made a deck of BB cards, and the "2" card had a cool tribal batman symbol. so i took that card to a local tattoo shop and got it put at the top of my back, almost from shoulder to shoulder
If anyone ever comes across a pic of that card (doesnt matter what suit) i would really appreciate it lol

I actually HAVE been planning on getting the Arkham Asylum tattoo......but in greyshade with the detailing of the metal in black. I also wanted to take out the lettering so that it looked like pieces coming together to form the word "Batman"
Here's the sketch I've been showing to get price quotes from artists along with the actual logo:

It shouldnt cost that much. Mine only cost $120 and it covers almost my entire forearm.

Wow.....that's really cool. Yeah, I was only planning to get mine across a shoulder so I'm hoping it won't cost THAT much.
The last guy I talked to told me that he would do just the bat outline filled in for roughly $120. At the time, I hadn't planned on all of the detailing.

yours is nice, but its also close to one color and a solid piece.
multi colored fracted ( seperate ) pieces are harder to do correctly, and are more time consuming. remember your not paying for the art neccesarrily, you are paying for the artist's time.

yup and thats JUST the bat outline.
add the cracks, your metallic coloring you wish, and the seperation of lettering.
your now at or over 300+ usd.
again geography standards factor in too. im speaking of ONE partcular shop, in chicago, usa.
not kansas, or oklamhoma.. not to say there are not splendid artists there, or anywhere, but just the same as anything, from rent, to bars, to entertainment.
larger metro areas demand higher cost's. , if your that serious about this piece, take it too several artists, for quotes.

whoa......... THAT would take some serious time if your thinking full back art.
if your on average of about 6 foot tall male and your looking for a full piece, itll take 3 sessions. and for something in this art style youll need someone along the lines of a kat von D ,who is an expert in shading, and depth.

Can it wait until the 15th of August??I'm having a touch up session on my forearm as some of the ink on Joker & Harley has faded & not taken to the skin where I've been scratching it while healing, very bad I know. It's just that in comparison to the vibrancy of my upper arm,it's not the final vision I had.So 15th,I'll be more than happy to share my 35 hours of pain with you and get some feedback.

tattoos here and there
used to be a tattooist yes, but I do it now just for mates.

I prefer my drawings when I get time, used to sell pictures of celebrities like Hendrix and Cobain, big money in those two guys.

BADLY BUILT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BLASPHEMY!!!!!!!!!
nahh im only joking. Ive allways been a Gibson man myself. As you can tell Im a massive S.G fan lol. I have 2 61-reissues and they are the best guitars ive ever played, I use them all the time in my sessions. Altough I do have a Jeff Beck artist series Strat (the olympic white one not the 'orrible surf green one lol) and its a cracker of a guitar. I must disagree with what you said about Gibsons being badle built. I have ammased 5 Gibsons (all new) and have never had any problem with any of them, and they are built to a top notch quality. But i have had lots of trouble with my Jb strat. I had to send one back as the neck was split down one side and the thing was built horribly. I got a new one though and it was excellent.

ummm I'm not sure, I heard of an excellent one at King's Cross but I think that might be Sydney, not good at remembering areas to certain cities.
Slash doesn't like Gibson factory made guitars cause they're rough putting the frets on the board, they pretty much get out the ole sledgehammer and bash it in.
His favorite les paul has been made by a retired Gibson maker, if I remember correctly

Wouldn't mind going to Sydney to get one, a bit extra cash needed but worth it in the long run.
I'm reading Slash's book at the moment, it's a good read if you haven't read it already.

Slash's favorite (and most used) Lp was made by a friend of his who i believe was a retired gibbo manufacturer who worked as an independant luthier in his old age. However all the parts were Gibson parts (it was just a kit guitar i think, im not really a slash fan). Anyway, i wouldnt take what slash says as the law on guitars. Players like Les Paul, Page, Townsend and the guitar lord Eric Clapton far eclipse what slash ever did with the instrument, and all used Gibsons in the prime of their career's and still use them now (Les Paul-Les Paul,Page-L.P,Townsend-SG,Eric Clapton-Es-335), and i doubt they would still endorse them if the fretwork was/is as bad as some say. Even now newer artists, like Derek Trucks turn to Gibson for their guitars, somthing which they wouldnt do if Gibson guitars were badly made. I personally have never had a problem with any of gibson's fretwork, and as ive said ive played countless guitars over many many years and play them as a profession, but in all my years have never come across a bad gibson, or never even had any complaints about any.
