Ah, just playing through Thief 2 at Assault on the Soulforge here, and had an interesting bug. All of a sudden after coming from Bay C making my Stage 1 Piece, the ENTIRE level became aggressive and swarmed towards me. I have a quicksave shortly before this, but it's as I walk through the vegetation towards the main cathedral. I was wondering at first how I got heard by the stupid little bot walking around infront of me, but then I got shot in the back. Two reloads in a row.

Then swarmed infront.

I need more mines and fire arrows.

Yikes! Hope you win the battle AND the war! :thumb:

Ever knocked yourself out?

I was running around "Life of the Party". I got to that area with the huge round metal door on the rooftops that leads to a waterway?

There is a little railing along the edge of the rooftop and I wanted to jump over and get to the door. As I jumped, I "fell over" onto my side and the screen faded to black, as though I had tripped on the railing. The mission was then at the fail screen. Garrett didn't scream or anything. :D

Then of course there's the infamous heart attack and floating spiders in TDP. AI's getting stuck on lamps and things...

I know there's more but I have to think...

Oh I tried valiantly to win the battle, but I can't find a reliable way to kill the little spider bastard robots. The big ones are easy enough to trick into blowing themselves up, and I have the Broadheads/sword skill to kill the Servants, but this is an unbeatable (Yet hilarious) battle.

Haven't knocked myself out before, that's good though. Also doing the previous level, forget the name, but it's when you're stowing away in the submarine, a whole bunch of the guards kept falling into the water, screaming that they're dying and altering everyone nearby of how I'm using Force powers to drown them I guess.

Have you tried crushing them under an elevator?

Here's a legendary document, written by Azal: Azal's Guide to TMA Strange & Unusual (http://southquarter.com/websites/Thief%20II%20Guide%20to%20the%20Strange%20and%20Unusual.doc). It's a Word Document, about 6 MBs in size, but it was made before Azal's website disappeared. Thanks to Gothik for preserving it, and southquarter.com (http://southquarter.com/) for archiving it!

I hadn't, but wow, I started reading that guide, that's awesome! I love things like that. FF6 has a whole hell of a lot of glitches and I read a guide of something like 160 of them. This one is just unbelievably massive though, but it makes sense for a game like this.

There's another one made for T1, but it was never finished, by Thumper:

I LOVE that guide to the strange and unusual. I saw it ages ago. It's a hoot!

If it's truly a swarm, then I would love to see a screenshot of this. :thumb: If you're nimble enough, you should be able to herd them into a tight enough spot and have them take each other out with their own weapons, but it's a tricky thing to do.

Aw unfortunately I quit and redid the level (Overwriting the save). The enemies in T2 don't seem to attack eachother as effectively as T1. If I do get this again, I'll have to take a shot.

one thing I did like was killing combatbots with a blackjack

you find a standard doorway and lure a combat bot to it by letting it see you, go through the doorway and the combot will go crazy trying to squeeze through after you but if you have the right width door it can't

now you can stand slightly to the left of the door and let it shoot at you in which case it's own rebounding ammunition will kill it

or you can go in close and repeatedly whack it with a blackjack until it dies, it's a good idea to turn the sound down or take your headphones off as it makes a taffawful clanging noise and it goes on for a loooong time while you hit it, again stand slightly to the left so it can see you but it's cannon is blocked by the door jamb

the bot may occasionally back away and take a shot, so avoid the shot then just step back into view and let it charge at you again, do not be tempted to step out of the room and follow it

I always knew you could get the bots to kill themselves with their own bombs, but I didn't know you could blackjack an active one 0_o I thought they only fell apart after deactivating them!

This I must try!

One thing I always do is steal the Plans for the Cetus project through the painting in Karris' office in Angelwatch.

I know you can deactivate the alarm, but it's just fun to take something without even opening the secret door :D

You can even defeat the bots by blackjack without the use of a door, if you keep moving in close and keep to its off-hand it constantly tries to back off and turn towards you, and doesn't shoot at you as long as you keep close. It's a bit like burrick-killing, but bots turn faster than burricks. This is quite dangerous, and probably only worthwhile in Soulforge; on every other level you probably have enough gear to eliminate the bots that you want to eliminate.

Call me a sissy, but I think I am too terrified of them to try it actually XD

I remember the first time i saw the bots kill themselves and others. i believe the mission is when you have to eavsdrop on Karras and the Sherrif around the end of the cathedral there is the bot and I think 2 hammers. Someway near the entrance to the level the bot and the hammers got all stuck trying to get to me. The bot would fire and the bomb would hit the building bounce off and hit the hammers or itself. The thing ended up killing both hammers and itself while i just stood back and watched. I had to restart the level as those 2 hammer deaths were counting against me, and I like to play a no human kill game.

I always enjoyed drowning zombies. If you get a zombie to chase you into the water, as long as it keeps its head underwater, the zombies will drown. I always thought that the undead didn't need to breathe... :D

don't know if it's a bug or intentional, but I've leaned around a corner and turned so much that I broke my own spine... forget if it was in Tgold or TMA though.

in the museum in TDS. on the second floor by the main arterium on the side balcony. theres what appears to be an elevator shaft that is empty. theres two buttons to click and they do nothing and go nowhere. so waht i do is get a bunch of gaurds to chase me and i jump down there clinging onto the wall. and when the gaurds keep getting glitched into moving closer and closer by shaking their fist at me...they eventually slide so far over the edge that they fall down the empty shaft and die. i then go back and repeat with another gaurd until the bottom of the shaft is a dead body pit. its so fun. by the way garrett runs really slow in TDS, anyone agree?

Bug exploits!

Yeah, Garrett has been noted to be or seem slower in TDS.

From recent posts at TTLG:
Thinking about it - one of the most exciting times I had in Thief 3 was when I had climbed out of the world in Auldale and discovered that I could enter Gammal's Lair a couple of days before the mission that led into it. Of course, I couldn't leave the Lair again without dieing, which was sort of bad. ;)

it's a wonky spot of the wall that you have to climb when you want to visit Fogerty's jewelery through the back entrance. Basically, just climb around on that wall, up and down and left and right. Try the arches, too. Arches in a wall are always good for trouble - after a while, Garrett will mantle himself into the wall and he should do a horizontal 180° flip. Now you're outside of the world, and more or less just above the fog leading into Gammal's Lair. I think all you then had to do was to climb down towards the fog, and upon arrival near the fog, you're in the lair.

Beware though... with the water in the canal and TDS's Garrett's inability to swim, you're then stuck in there.

It's one of those spots that IMHO should have been polished away before release, because I repeatedly found myself out of the map at this point accidentally, not on purpose. Visiting the Lair prematurely was exciting and fun, but the wonky spot is just too close to the regular path.

Urg, been playing Thief 3 lately, and I've lost track how many spots I've gotten stuck and can't move in. Sides of stairs, in treasure chests, on tables, etc.

it's a well known bug, I seem to remember it being caused when you try to set the door status as open in dromed, as soon as it's frobbed it floats off to infinity

Yep. Floating doors. First ones I saw were in the cemetery in Trace the Courier. Second one I saw was in Ramirez' mansion in Assassins!
