So...
I was lurking on google for some batman arkham asylum material and i found 2 diferent collector edition photos.

My question is: Is this picture real, i mean, ps3 CE is getting the bat-shape metal box, while xbox is getting only that...box?

the top picture (xbox) is the EU special edition. the bottom is the US special edition. im quite sure that the US xbox special edition will look like the bottom picture

This is what I also heard from unofficial sources. It would be nice to get a confirmation from someone official, though.

That box is too plain and the Doctor's Journal looks so naked without the sexy leather dustjacket. I wanna be 100% which one I'm getting.

Top one is EU, bottom one is US. Personally, I prefer the shape of our box, I feel that the batarang shaped box could be very fiddly.

I wouldn't be disappointed yet. As far as I'm aware, no one has touched the US journal, so it could very well be that awful cheap feeling leather.

Anyway, as stated in the FAQ, both the North American and European release of the Collector's Edition will be the same. The PS3 and 360 versions will have no difference between them EXCEPT for the Joker downloadable content included on the PlayStation Network.

Never said it was exclusive, just on the 360 rather then PS3. Infact, I think I'm getting it for PC rather then 360... although I heard it needs a pretty damn good computer to run.

Champions looks tight, has the best damn character creation I've ever seen, and you create your own archnemisis; thats cool.

DC universe, well, it's one of those games where you watch the videos and you know it's gonna suck. It's coming out around the same time as champions but looks so freakin broken. It does allow you to create villians though.

Trust me, I would much rather DC be better the Champions (I do have a high end computer after all!), but from what I've seen so far, it's no comperison, but who knows?

Yeah, the differences are for regions, not platforms.

In the UK, it's the normal box-shape.
In the US, it's the Bat-box.
(both get the dust jacket to keep the Journal in - the UK is pictured without it on)

So no matter what platform you buy, in the UK its the square box, in the US it's the Batarang-esque box.

Doesn't really matter - the only differnces are box shapes. And when I'm fighting Poison Ivy's Titan-Plant, the last thing on my mind will be the shape of the box sitting beside me.

That is official. It's direct from Keir who is the community manager for Eidos. I asked him this a while back and he gave me the information of both versions (NA and EU) being the same.

2) The book because I want to read it and not stroke it. I may stroke OVER it... if it's REALLY good. Hmmm... perhaps the leather-bound one would be better. I'm digressing...

3) The 'Crime Alley' Map (is that right?) for obvious replayability reasons. In fact (smug alert), because I've pre-ordered it and I'm getting it on PS3 I'm essentially getting something in the region of ten extra challenge maps (is that right, too?). That's smart shopping, folks.

Good point. But the quality of the entire package matters to a point. The things you said are definatly the more important parts, though.

A: The Collector's Edition's presentation varies depending on where you live. If you're in the US (and your Location would indicate you are) you can expect the nice one with the leather bound journal. In Europe it's not like that. The content is the same though, it's just the presentation.

See, THIS is what worries me. Im not too fussed about us missing out on the leather dustcover, but does this mean we wont actually get the proper game case? Because to me this really doesnt sound good at all.

Does anyone know, if the Collector's Edition will be available in any other European country than UK. I live in a small country in Europe and so far no domestic game seller is selling the CE version.

I could order B:AA CE from amazon.co.uk, but then I would receive the game 3-5 five working days late (because of the shipping), or I could settle for a normal version and buy it here on release date. (Plus the pound is weak so there's no price difference between the two versions!!!!)

Almost all of the UK shops deliver via Royal Mail, so the shipping time to rest of Europe is always 3-5 working days.

What a rip off. The main reason I didn't want the CE was because I felt the case would be crap, and now it has been confirmed. WTF Eidos? CEs are supposed to give the customer better quality not worse. They usually come in a metal box that will at least protect my game not this whack cardboard.

Then spend a couple bucks for a regular case and put it in it. I've had plenty of the games in cardboard like cases....if something happens to it, it's YOUR fault, not the case it's in. Maybe treat your games with some respect, the only reason anyone really needs the protection of those cases is if they just toss them around or something.

I already deleted the post. I'm gonna take all the goodies from the CE and then trade that crap case in and buy a SE. I take care of all my belongings, I just prefer the green Xbox 360 cases. I've got enough money to do this and buy a B:AA CE for everyone on this forum, I just find it disrespectful for Eidos to remove items from the CE and still give me cardboard.

See. Even with the box being back a little farther, which means it will fit better than that, and the journal being forward more, thus looks bigger. It will all fit nicely in that box.

Yeah but prestige is 150 bucks....and those night vision goggles are only worth about 50 bucks. You can tell by the price of the PE that they are the uber cheap ones. Real NV goggles are ridiculous expensive. So you are prettymuch paying for that and the steel case CE. It's about right.

This CE is a damn fine package for 100. With the game being 60, and i'd be shocked if you could find one of those batarangs by itself for less than 30 or 40 bucks. Plus the journal and bonus disc and map. Also about right.

If i were to ever get NV goggles....i'd do it IF i ever had the money to get the $3000 generation 3 ones. lol

It's not the plain cardboard sleeve(those do suck). It's the cardboard foldy thing with plastic disc holders just like the regular case...except cooler looking. There is a pic of it around somewhere from CC or something.

I believe it's a digipack with a cardboard sleeve that resembles the standalone game packaging.

yea,we havnt seen any vids of this map yet but from the name people can kind of guess what its going to look like. my guess is its going to be like the sewer and intensive treatment maps with a slightly different difficulty setting.

EU gets a proper game case whereas the US gets a digi-pack sleeve

It's not the plain cardboard sleeve(those do suck). It's the cardboard foldy thing with plastic disc holders just like the regular case...except cooler looking. There is a pic of it around somewhere from CC or something.

This CE is a damn fine package for 100. With the game being 60, and i'd be shocked if you could find one of those batarangs by itself for less than 30 or 40 bucks. Plus the journal and bonus disc and map. Also about right.

If i were to ever get NV goggles....i'd do it IF i ever had the money to get the $3000 generation 3 ones. lol

well if you have a ps3 you will be able to download about 8 for the joker i think. but thats a different question,he asked whats included in the CE:)

With RE5 it was pretty big. A lot of the textures looked crappier and the shadows were funky looking. Some of the other smaller partical effects and whatever just didn;t look as good. With GB it was mostly just small effects, like the burns on walls from the proton pack...in the 360 it had little burning embers in the burn, those were absent in PS3. pretty small detail, but missing nontheless.

Not like it matters to me anyway, there's no way in hell i'll have a PS3 within the next month....unless I win a contest..which never happens.

But it may matter to those with both.

I'm sure one of the good sites that does the comparisons will do it on this eventually.

I dunno if it has narrowed that much. It depends on the dev, though. Ghostbusters and RE5 are recent games and there were pretty noticable differences.

Gamestop is the last place I'd ask about anything they're offering. Those dudes are clueless.

The batarang is what's grabbing me. The exclusive interviews with Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamil are a huge plus, as is the Bio-book with the spiffy artwork.

Anything else, the crime alley map...whatever the batarang boxset is...the cool box...is all icing on the cake for me.

Gamestop has not, and probably will not, update the CE to include the 'rang boxset. GS is pretty slow on things.

If it is attached to the stand my guess is you can use a screwdriver to un-attach it. It just seems like a major error in designing the stand as part of the batarang.
