Batman on the cover. Ding. 9+ review. Ding. Early review? Ding.

Anyone who thinks the website is for trolling should read this guest blog on the website and see that even the editor of EuroGamer appreciates the blog, and regularly talks to the site owner:

Yeah, except the embargo could have been lifted. It is the end of July, after all. I don't give Mr. Ram Raider the 5 cents to buy his mother back from Slickback, let alone any credibility to what he posts in his blog. Everything he talks about just sounds like typical blogger cynical elitist garbage.

And shame on you for tainting these forums again with the jerk.

If I didn't give a damn last time you started this crap why would I care now.

i don't see what the big deal is though?? i mean really.. video games despite being entertaining, are still a BUSINESS..

when you spend 3+ years making a game, it's your call on what kind of rules you want to put on the early reviews for your game... that's just how media based businesses operate. so what if they can only do an early review if the game is on the cover and it has a 90 or better score, it's still up to the reviewer to rate the game however they see fit!! it's not like eidos is holding a gun to reviewers heads demanding they give the game a top score.

it's not like eidos is holding a gun to reviewers heads demanding they give the game a top score.

Print media isn't exactly in the best state at the moment. If they want to make the sales by being one of the first few to review a hyped game, it's not the best of situations where journalistic integrity is concerned.

Very true, it's completely up to the companies to decide when early code gets sent and when it can be reviewed. It doesn't make the stipulations right. "Only good press before the games release.", while marvelous from a business perspective, doesn't help buyers make an informed decision in the least.

I have little doubt AA is going to be amazing, I'm just saying.

These kind of things make it hard to distinguish between magazines/websites that want that early review and cover...and which ones honestly rate it a 9. I've seen almost every review place give in to BS at least once. GTA4 really nailed a bunch of em, hahah.

The whole world is corrupt, why would videogames be exempt. ( not saying that this is true in this situation or not, I'm just saying that in general all buisness may resort to some less than reputable tactics )

Once again, this draws to my attention:

Everything on this blog is the personal opinion of the RAM Raider, and is all lies (Apart from the comments, which are the personal opinions of the commenters. And are all lies.)

What did Eidos say about all the other games they manipulated the scores off again?

K&L etc.?

EDIT//
I meant Tomb Raider... I'm pretty sure K&L was clean...

This is rediculous, every time this game gets put on a cover ( which it will a lot cause it's the hottest game out in August save for madden ) and/or gets a: 9, 90/100, 90%, or A- ( which should happen cause about 99% of the opinions of this game are very positive ) the OP is gonna post a new topic sawing that it's evidence that the anti-Christ is comming or whatever. Is this RAM RAIDER gonna say the same with MW2 ?

You don't remember a gamespot employee losing his job for the bad review of K&L?

edit:Granted, that shows more poorly on gamespot than eidos, but still.

Aye, that's true, but Eidos have a history of this type of thing.

Based off rumours, right? I've personally never seena ny actual evidence and even if it was true. Its not the worst thing ive seen from game companies. :p

Oh Christ, not this biased unsourced crap again. I'm starting to think that YOU are for trolling, Gho. I don't care if the POPE appreciates the blog, it's STILL just biased rambling that has no credible sources. So how about you take your conspiracy theory BS elsewhere. I hear the "loose change" nutjobs are getting bored right now. But seriously, ENOUGH of this, Gho.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Based off the Eidos publicity rep stating that the American branch of Eidos made a mistake by attempting to ban negative reviews of Tomb Raider before release.

Ah yeah the whole "post it on monday if its less then what we want to hype it" thing. Some article make the words seem like they were banning all lowert han 80% reviews which sounds just wrong. =p

Eitherway that article regarding BAA claims that only 90% reviews were allowed, so why should this magazine bother with 96% ? Surely its not because this game might actually be as amazing as promoted?

I have no doubt AA is amazing, a AAA title if you'll excuse the pun, it's the only game I've ever pre-ordered.

I just view the world in a very cynical way, I don't care if Eidos paid publishers for good reviews, they've got my money.

I just think it's a bit ignorant not to question.

Drazar
07-25-2009, 03:19 AM
Sure you can always question, but basing it off a blogger who has no real source isn't the way to do it. ^^; Eitherway all the reviews will come eventually and we will get a metacritic thats fair, same went for Tomb Raider.

good morning drazar , or day / evening . lol. ;)

i hope this day , finds you in good health, and spirit. :)

i honestly think it may have been said or done in the past( be EIDOS ) .... and hopefully they learned their lesson from it.

But when i did radio & tv for a few years it was VERY common place to 'blackmail' record labels, and advertisement companies, if you were a larger media group opposed to a one-10 indi , radio group.

not only for tickets, and giveaways but radio stations that played things like macy grey, would begin advertising OZZ FEST or KORN or something rediculous, only because they told the record company........ you WILL give us, this & this & this, or not only will we NOT play your records in NEW YORK........ but in the OTHER 800 radio stations we own.

so, sadly these practices are done to some degree.

The best is when you get given promo packs every week.

That's the only upside of companies trying to bribe media, I enjoyed the goodie bags!

Yes we were bribed by many bands, record labels, a & r rep's.... we recieved anything from bongs, to drugs, to booze, to ' women ' for the men, because years ago when 'payola' was around they only legally outlawed MONEY.

not sex, or drugs, or ........... etc.

Just curious, what happens if the non-exclusive reviews are high too? Don't you need the context to actually call this one?

Cause, y'know, he / she is right. :P Before you call this, you need a control and you need the OTHER reviews too. ;)

This entire thread is pointless. :|
