I run an XP system, dual core, dual nvidia card, and it would probably be considered a modern system.

Here's the trouble: I have installed Thief Gold as per the usual steps, no problems there. I can get it to start up (i.e. intro FMV's, start menu) .. but here's the funny part. When I start up a new game, it will play through the intro sequence, and then go to the 'mission goals' screen where I can select my difficulty, BUT... when I click to 'continue', it will go to a black screen, flicker, and give me a critical error message, as it crashes. This also happens when I select "Options" from the main menu screen.

I've tried the dual-CPU trick. Doesn't work.
Compatability mode DOESN'T work either.

If there's a problem with the nvidia cards that the game has (And WHY NOT?), then I don't know how to fix it.

I would appreciated ANY help from anyone that might be able to answer this problem. :mad2::mad2::mad2::mad2::mad2:  :mad2::mad2::mad2::mad2::mad2:

The 3-D game graphics are different from the 2-D menu and movies. Did you follow all the steps listed in the sticky threads concerning modern computers? You need to install DDFIX to make it work with a modern Nvidia card. Also, you need to set affinity to one processor. There may be other things listed in the sticky threads.
