Oh. My. Goodness.

A new friend on IM asked me for my home addy and I don't usually give it out but he was a friend of a trusted friend and wanted to add me to his "Christmas Card" list

So I gave it out (Please NEVER do this kids, very dodgy!).

Anyway, this morning I got a parcel from Amazon and it was from my new friend. It's the PC version of Morrowind and a 3-pack collector's edition :D

He knows I like Tomb Raider and he's hardly rich either. He paid almost $30 for the shipping fee alone

I have never even heard of this game. I do hope it's a third-person job!

Anyone heard of it? Can my Dell Dimension handle this game I wonder? :D

I need to rally up some players so I can get tips when I open and load the game!!!

Oh, sorry, I know nothing about Morrowind.

For now, I'm going to strongly recommend you play it.

I don't want to give too much away, but it's one of the deepest games ever.

I agree with the stellar reviews this game got, as I am fully in love with it.

Uh huh :)

It sounds cool but is it Tomb Raider-ish? :D

The images look a bit weird but then so does Winston with his rickety old tea tray ;)

I'll give it a go at some stage - once I learn how to open the rather tenacious plastic wrapping!

BLOWHARD - lol! Even my friend stood outside the front door when I opened it  I felt sure it contained some sort of chemical bomb hahahaha! :lmao:

Morrowind. How I still love thee.

There are many threads (http://forums.eidosgames.com/showthread.php?t=24020) about the game here, most containing very fond memories of such a wonderful, superb, and just all round great game.

Hiya Omega,

Sorry sweetie I should have searched - had never heard of the game before receiving it so my apologies :o

It's a great game, Lo. I am sure you'll enjoy it. You can play both in 1st and 3rd person views, depending on what you prefer.

I would like to play in third person! Thanks, Xcom, nice to know there are gamers here that may be able to help out if I get stuck! :D

It is the third installment of the Elder Scrolls series, and I spent well over a year playing it steady, modding it, and living it. The fourth installment, Oblivion, was also epic and unbelievably fun and beautiful. If you read the other thread, you will note my character of choice is a female Khajiit, but I am sure you would prefer the female Nord.

Too bad I can not really replay games, or I'd be immersed in my obsession about my Khajiit feet again!

As an aside of some note, my Location was Oblivion long before it was announced Chapter IV would be named Oblivion. But I added the Elsweyr to punctuate the fact of the coinkidink.

That, as yet, means little to me but how cool that you get to pick your own character, I am sure I shall have fun with this game.

On the back it says I have Morrowind, Tribunal and Bloodmoon where I can be a werewolf! :D

Alas I have work to do before indulging ;)

You can also be a Vampire, but that's a bit rubbish in Morrowind as everybody runs away from you.

Being a Vampire in Oblivion is way cooler - and n some cases - encouraged!

Hehe, me too.

So, beware Lo, this game will require serious commitment, especially given that you have both expansion packs as well. I've never played Bloodmoon.

I just hope my keyboard is up to the task ahead :D

But thank the lord for YouTube so I can get some help in a hurry if needed!

One of the more important aspects of Elder Scrolls is building (and subsequently improving) your character. It's an RPG, after all, and I'd recommend that you read up a couple of guides at gamefaqs.com about character leveling before starting the game and choosing your skills, attributes, etc. I remember that the first time I played the game, I just created a char without giving it much thought, and sometime (in the middle of the game), I regretted that decision very much.

That is sound advice. I'll be sure to get a good head start and a working knowledge of character-building, cheers Xcom. :thumb:

No. It's actually a great game, unlike the awful Tomb Raider games.

Lol your first post was helpful, but this comment isn't exactly encouraging for an old-skool Tomb Raider fan.

The game is from 2002, so it doesn't require much power by current standards.

Windows XP/2000
256 MB RAM
500 MHz Intel Pentium III, Celeron, AMD Athlon or better processor
8x CD/DVD-ROM Drive
1 GB free hard disk space
32 MB Direct3D compatible video card with 32-bit color support, DirectX 8.1 compatible driver, and Hardware Transform & Lighting support
DirectX 8.1 compatible sound card

No worries, I am going to be upgrading the PC soon to the Studio touch-screen :D

Your arm might hurt after a while of playing Morrowind by touch-screen...

Seriously though, the game doesn't require that much. It runs on my five year old laptop perfectly well without any frame-rate drop. Hell, I even used the laptop to create an Island and House for myself!

Complete with flying Mudcrabs that spit poison at you.
