When I jump onto the metal bar thats supposed to open the gate under the water, nothing happens?

I read a couple of walkthroughs and they suggest that Laras weight on the bar will open the gate.

What am I doing wrong?

I realised what the problem was.

I had Laura in the gold bikini, she didn't weigh enough to pull the mechanism down.

I restarted the game and choose a different outfit and hey presto it worked.

Design flaw here. (xbox 360)
