I get disappoint often when game developers promise a whole lot of stuff and barely get 40% of the stuff in the game. Ok, I know it is not always the programmer fault but the CEO trying to cut cost, yet trying to keep the $60 US price tag. So hopefully these 2 questions will show that snipping pixel, maps and items from a game also snips costumers and possibly over all profits.

1. What game would Thief 4 have to be compared to, as in content and size, for you the Gamer/Buyer feel ripped off and cheated (even at $30 us)? Also would a low min ‘story only’ play time have an impact on that (as in making it worse) ?

2. Compared to which game, would Thief 4 have to be great then before you would feel that the halo series and Oblivion games are now just plain rip-off's? Also to what degree, in which areas?:worship: :D

I would have done a poll but I am not sure what game to use as a reference point.

Thief 4 would have to compare to TMA in content and size, because really somewhere around there is perfect, because it isn't an all soul consumer like oblivion, but isn't shorter and less fulfilling either.

Halo and oblivion will never be ripoffs because they're different games in both style and story. (Sci-fi (halo) vs classic fantasy medieval (oblivion) vs Steampunk medieval (Thief), and FPS vs FPRPG vs FPSneaker)

As long as there's large explorable levels that will let me do anything I want in, I'm pretty happy.
I played a couple of Splinter Cells and though they looked pretty good, I felt like I was on "tracks" being wheeled in position to execute a cool move. This is the one aspect I fear more than other.
Games seem "dumbed down" just to provide an exciting visual than a cerebral challenge.

Game development has gotten more expensive over time, sadly that led to often shorter games, less content or the studios playing safe and not being as innovative as in the past. I guess the same risks hold true here too.

saw some clips from E3 where they featured Batman : Arkham Asylum

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/click_online/8108060.stm

NB the clip may not play outside the UK

now it was a pretty awesome looking game and looks fun to play

however I really, really do not want thief to head in that direction and wouldn't purchase it if it did

Pretty much this, but I'd add the stipulation that it has to be of nearly the same quality as TMA.

I'd agree with this. Just bring the graphics and textures up to date and some improvements to the AI and behaviours.

I agree too, but I think at least i would like them to scale the maps to larger in range, and have at least 3 maps that would be an optional choice for between mission for shopping and practicing.

but if they also double the missions, making some serect optional mission, and had 3 city/regions composed of 3-4 huge maps + what ever buildings/shop maps needed; just for playing around in. At this point I would be tempted to take my Oblivion edition back and damn a refund. lol :rasp:
