Just thinking of what I'd like to see in the game and thought about this. How about levels that are truly alive and always changing? Truly unpredictable AI that operates without the player "activating" scenes with their presence.

You might be tasked with stealing a list of names on the second floor of a certain workplace but when you get there its gone. Perhaps some NPC needed to use this list in a meeting downstairs. Do you wait in the office to see if he brings it back or do you try and find him or find some way to disrupt the meeting. Make it so something like this isn't scripted but a random event that might or might not happen. When people talk about how they completed certain missions, everyone would have a totally different story to tell.

Something similar was done in the Kidnap level in Thief II but imagine it on a larger scale.

What do you reckon?

I like the idea, but the reason that they put scripted events like that in there, is that they want the player to have that experience, it becomes part of Garrett's epic tale. While I'm not opposed to having some levels constantly change (I'd have thought that the MAW OF CHAOS would constantly be twisting and turning around me....), having events that drastically alter your objectives (such as the one you stated, where you go from a simple break-in-n' rob to needing to somehow get the notes out of a meeting where there's many people) should always be part of the experience (maybe only changing with difficulty).

That would make for an extremely irritating game experience. I lost a game of Morrowind because some guy I was supposed to talk to got killed by a slaughterfish.

I found Kidnap to be one of the more annoying levels in the series.

I think they sould ditch triggered events that cant be avoided, they're are one of the most irratating events in recent games, especially in tomb raider where you can actually die durring triggered events if you are underwater then you can drown durring them, cutscene triggered events are also irratating, cos you usually have to redo something again because the event turns your controls off.

Not actually saying they should ditch all triggered events, some events can be triggered but its better for game play if you don't actually notice that an event has been triggered. Unlike in half-life 2 you can tell when there's been a triggered event cause the game pauses for a split second just before something thats been triggered happens.

I like that idea. But If that happen in every mission, would be annoying
