Its been mentioned on more then one occasion that batman will have a batcave somewhere under the arkham grounds. In the Arkham asylum ps3 features thread it says that in the cave you can choose to ride the batmobile, the batwing, and get exclusive gadgets(Dunno how true it is). Anyone know anything further?

the Batmobile, Batwing and so on are most definatly for PS3 HOme. Becaue otherwise these things would be as commercialized as the Joker stages. ^^;

You cannot drive any vehicle in this game, you're confined to the island. The PS3 exclusives most likely have to do with PlayStation Home.

thanx guys, thats the one aspect of the game besides the boss fights that they've kept under wraps.

well the batmobile is already parked outside the asylum getting wreaked by thugs, im guessing the boat and the batwing will be in there as decor.

They mentioned in the most recent podcast that we won't be able to drive anything.

and im very glad about that. if its based around the asylum then why would you need to drive anything?. plus
i hate driving in action games, apart form free roam games i think its unnecessary to switch, e.g the vehicle parts in resi 5.
roll on this beautiful game.

Pretty much sums up the thread

Im sure they have a cave, it was confirmed. However, not entirely sure of driving anything. Definitely NOT the Batmobile. If you could drive anything it would be the boat.

I'm sure they're considering it for the sequel... should they be granted such a chance.

Did the developers not say that the Bat Boat would play a large roll at the end of the game ....... I swear I heard that somewhere

I don't think driving would suit this game. It's set on Arkham, and I want it to feel creepy and engaging. A driving mission would be fun, sure, but it doesn't fit within the context of the game. Besides, the Joker wouldn't let Batman simply drive around.

A magazine said that they saw what looked like a covered up boat in the underground Batcave at Arkham, so they were speculating that it would be involved in the later stages of the game. Nothing conclusive, but it's a strong possibility.

Exactly^ they even have a picture of the cave, ergo confirming it.

Well, it could be a decoration, but why have a boat in the cave?

Seems like a gameplay mechanic...

Yea im not questioning the confirmation ... Everyone has already seen the boat ..... I question my own memory that ... like a month or more ago I heard either Sefton or Crocker say that the boat will come into play toward the end of the game

For the batboat, it just might be utilized in a cinematic.

I had a bit of a theory: it could be involved in a water-based section involving Killer Croc.

Batman has always had his batboat in his actual Batcave under Wayne manner, for the same reason one is here, I imagine. If he needs to travel by boat, it's there. In fact, since Arkham's an island, what happens if the bridge to it is blocked/destroyed? Batman needs a way in and out as insurance. Ergo, the batboat and probably batwing in the cave... That doesn't mean we'll get to use it, or it will even be freatured in a cinematic, just shows you that Batman has what he would have logically in his cave.

Well, since this is a completely new cave beneath Arkham, I dunno about what it will contain, and how relevant each individual item will be. I think it's interesting, and they are keeping certain details under wraps.

The batcave under Arkham is a satellite location. It was first revealed in the comics towards the start of the No Man's Land arc. As far as his satellite locations go, mostly they are used for restocking and rest, while this one was also stocked with all-terrain vehicles. As this version of Arkham is an island, it wouldn't be beyond an intellect as great as the Dark Knight's to keep a boat at his disposal, but it would probably not be the Batboat. Most likely, it would be a raft or possibly a small submersible, so as not to draw attention should he have to leave the island in a different manner then he arrived.

As to Batman being stuck on the island or needing insurance to get off of it, I think I will use this moment to quote Rorschach from Watchmen... "None of you understand. I'm not locked up in here with you. You're locked in here with me."

See... all that knowledge and I didn't even need to invoke an Ergo :D

Though maybe wikipedia or dc pedia, :P.

Though Rocksteady will follow their own flow most likely.

You're not alone... I have a memory of exactly that too.... it can't be a coincidence, can it? I'm pretty sure it was Sefton who said it in one of the earlier interviews when someone asked about vehicles in the game. Anyone else recall something similar?

P.S. Why is Joker's hairline so receeded in that picture of him?

You guys are correct. Sefton did say in an interview the batboat comes into play towards the end of the game. Can't remember which interview it was.
However that doesn't necessarily mean we get to drive it, does it.

I think the Joker may escape to Gotham City to unleash hell. Thats where the second game will continue from. IN MY DREAMS.
