There are many graphic novels with the Dark Knight! My two favorites so far, are The Killing Joke and Dark Victory! Many People love The Drak Knight Returns but I don't like it so much! So what is YOUR favorite graphic novel???

Hush. Volume Two if I had to pick one out of the two volumes. The artwork is stunning, and the story is great. Nothing along the lines of The Killing Joke, but still good enough to keep me entertained.

well if I had to choose of the 4 graphic novels I own so far (The Killing Joke, Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth, Batman: Heart of Hush, and Batman: Year One) I would have to prefer The Killing Joke and Heart of Hush the most, equally.

Hmm... Curious! It seems that no one chose the eminent "THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS"! On the contrary Hush, Dark Victory and let's say the Killing Joke are most loved by the Fans! Let's see and other opinions...!

My favorite is definitely The Long Halloween. Great plot, great characters, the themes are deep and complex, and Batman pulls of noir very, very well.

Second favorite is probably The Killing Joke, and then maybe Hush (there's just so many). Pretty much everything by Jeph Loeb.

Also, even though they're technically a Superman comic and a Justice League comic respectively, Emperor Joker and Tower of Babel.

My favorites are:
1- Batman: Hush
2- The Killing Joke
3- Batman R.I.P (just because of the part were Batman was buried those couple pages keeps reminding me how badass Batman is)
Even though this one isn't a Batman comic I really liked it JLA: Tower of Babel (look at what he did to Aquaman will not him but still it was his ideas)

I'm not a huge fan of The Killing Joke. I own it, and I've loved Brian Bolland for many years, and Moore's story-telling, and it provoked emotion in me, but I just didn't get hooked. The Dark Knight returns was just so great. It took me a bit to grasp the brilliance of it though. The multiple climaxes, leading up to the finally
(sp?) was amazing. I also just special ordered 3 more Batman graphics, maybe one of them will take the lead.

I have something similar... It was called Batman chronicles, and it was separated into I don't know how many volumes. But yes, the original Batman comics are very dated, and they get very campy, just like the old TV shows with Adam West. But they are still very good!!!

To reply to this thread, my favorite graphic novel is Batman: The Dark Knight Returns. It was probably the most epic thing I have ever read and I liked it even more than Watchmen. Other good ones are The Long Halloween, Dark Victory, Arkham Asylum, No Man's Land, and how could I forget Knight Fall!!!

But for some reason, everyone LOVES Year One and says its the best Batman Graphic Novel ever, and I have to disagree. I'm not sure why I didn't like that one as much though....

You're the man. I agree about Dark Knight Returns, the epic Battle with Superman at the end, and Batman's apparent death.
I enjoyed Year One, but I just didn't think it was amazing, simply an excellent origin story, nothing more.

I'll have to agree, Year One was a very good origin story. But so much stuff was still left unexplained. Like I thought Catwoman being in the book at all was completely unnecessary.... And the ending just left me thinking, "Thats it?"

Yeah, I love Miller's art. At first I didn't, which made me not want to read it. Then I saw a whole bunch of reviews saying it was an amazing book, so I gave into the hype and read the book, and thought it was amazing, and that the art work actually works for the story.

If people are gonna purchase any Batman comics you should start with the trades, or pick up some of the newer stories. The Chronicles or Collections stuff may be REALLY old stuff.

I was already use to it cause I read his Ronin. He had a great colorist too with him, Lynn Varley in both Ronin and DKR (also on 300 and some other stories).

What Ever Happened to the Caped Crusader? Batman 686 and Detective 853. Kubert's art is fantastic, and it was written by Neil Gaiman, a favorite author of mine. Instant classic.

Other than that, Hush, The Black Glove and Bruce Wayne: Fugitive.

Argel, yyoure talking about DKR? Dark Knight Strikes Again wasnt too bad. There isnt a whole lot I dont like about DKR tho, its my second favorite behind Year One. I might actually read it again now that im thinking about it.

Just spent the past few hours reading hush again and I forget how enthralling it is. It really keeps you gripped from start to finish, even after you've read it time and time again. Loeb's deliciously thick story and Lee's masterful artwork breathe this intensity into the book - a definite MUST READ.

It has some of the most gripping, interesting, and down right amazing story telling that no one seems to read.

My Favorite is Batman: The Long Halloween

but i got a question as well. I haven't read the Batman R.I.P series so i thought about buying the 6 comics, but then i found

can anyone tell me whats the difference between this and the comics?

I dont know if this is what happens but, the graphic novel is bigger so maybe they can move panels around when editing? And also comics have adverts in them. I really dont know if these affect it but they might.

Easily the Dark Knight Returns. Absolutely gorgeous. When Batman first dons the cape and cowl once more and it shows what he's doing without showing him, and it flashes to the news reports of Batman and all the reporters are kinda in awe, and it cuts to that huge picture of him gliding down, just great. I love the more violent Batman too. In a world where nothing gets done and nobody gets punished, its damn satisfying to see them get punished. And though age robbed him of speed and agility, he makes up for it with sheer power. Instead of sneaking around and taking thugs out silently he gives away his location and scares them before pulling the kid right through the ******* floor. A great four-part story with beautiful art and very unique layouts.

Hmmm...

1) The Killing Joke
2) Batman vs. Predator... DON'T JUDGE ME!
3) Marvel vs. DC

I have no idea but I love out of the box concepts. The Killing Joke is really well written. The other two are just things I liked and the thought of thier actions has helped others really dig deep down and find good spin-off conflictions. It's something I love to think of.

Lee Bermejo had the Joker design since 2005 if youre implying that. ^^ The comic actually did get a name change from Joker: The Dark Knight to simply "Joker" to avoid children getting the comic, haha. ^^

actually they were working on the book b4 any details were released for The Dark Knight, it was never meant to be a sequel or follow up, I think its amazing how close they were. The book is phenomenal and one of the few where the author isn't afraid to take the Joker to the level he should be at regularly in my opinion. Plus the quality of the writing and art make it a lot more than a simple cash-in.

But if I had one book to read for the rest of my like it would definitely be The Dark Knight Returns.
