Combat seemed reasonably entertaining, and the art style was very intriguing. What did you think?

I threw Batarangs at them for half an hour. Splendid.

Nice. I like the pose Batman strikes before he tosses them.

It's easy to pick up but takes real effort to master the freeflow combat. I haven't managed more than a 40 hit combo on the extreme difficulty yet, a long way from the best it could be. I'm really looking forward to the game's final release.

How were the controls/combat animations?

The animations are extremely fluid, didn't have any issues with those at all. The controls are very simple, but like I said, it's difficult to master. You can button-mash your way through, but you won't get much in the way of a combo doing that. Counters are easy to pull off with the indicators, but it's been promised on the higher difficulties that those indicators won't be there. So, the challenge is there if you want to make it difficult for yourself. Many compare it to Assassin's Creed's combat system, although I think it's a bit more aggressive than that. (AC became a joke once you learned the counter moves. You could just turtle and do nothing but counter-attack. This still requires skill and aggressive behavior)

I enjoyed it a great deal, but everyone has their own opinions.

I really loved it, minus the Wal-Mart display that breaks your neck. The game was everything and more I hoped for. The combat was fluid and the countering animations were spectacular. The voice overs were top notch and hell the battle damage to Batman was pretty tight I must say. Still need more of a feel and hopefully the demo will give it to me. Still a must have for this summer though.

Thought it was awesome. Combat was sweet. I loved how I could punch and counter immediately after.

I love the perfect aiming where you could drill someone in the arm, chest, leg or head that was just so fun. And the way they fell to the ground after getting hit from that was just fantastic.

It was nice at Best Buy. But I've heard so much that I really wasn't that interested when I first glanced at it. But then I tried it and found it hard. The only way to become untouched is the timing of punched and counters which is very difficult for those of you that haven't tried. I did well I suppose my first time so I tried the Extreme one. I made it through all rooms until I got to Zsasz, he knifed me and I died. At least it wasn't by a thug. Then I tried again and in some room a thug got an Ak and shot the crap out of me. Then I retried again and finally kicked Zsasz right across the face and I felt a need to do it again, but then I said I'll be here next Tuesday. FLuid combat, excellent graphics, random AI, (no set paths or methods of taking you down, they try to hit you when they can) and Batman looks pretty kick-@$$ to match. Excellent demo. I actually almost fell over my legs were so weak because I was so excited.

Its great .... I love the free flow combat ... BUT ... Im waiting for the E3 demo/a gameplay demo so we can really feel what the game is like ..... Dont get me wrong free flow combat is awesome .... BUT its only one small part of a very large game

It really put a damper on my combos in the demo that Batman couldn't whack people while they were still on the ground. But after seeing the E3 videos, it's pretty clear that the fighting system is that much closer to perfection.

Graphics were beautiful on the demo, and throwing batarangs never get tiring. I just leave one more thug left and knock him down repeatedly with batarang throws..
You can do headshots, but can you do nutshots? I haven't tried. Yet.

Heehee, nut shot's on a boss, like Bane, Batman - "Instead of wasting my time and pulling out his tubes I'll just do that."

Though honestly there will be no nut shot's since Batman does not fight dirty.

Loved it. What makes me anticipate this game even more was the fact that it was only a Challenge Room add-on. We have the entire story to look forward to.

I have a question,is it possible to grab the enemy anytime and throw them into windows or something?

I love the fluidity of the combat and found the demo addictive as I was standging there in Best Buy. I kept wondering if I just beat the Etreme mode score if would unlock the stealth challenge room. But I've yet to beat it. My buddy point out to me that counters are more versatile than first thought.

He showed me that depending when you counter the animation is different both on thugs with and without pipes. When you counter right away, Batman stuns the thug with a few shots to the gut and one last one to the face. If you wait until mid swing of a punch he crushes their fist, pushing them to the floor before kneeing the poor bastard in the face.

If you wait mid swing with a weapon, Batman blocks and takes the pipe away and jabs them in the gut with it. If they fully commit to a punch, he sidesteps them follows with an elbow to the back of the head and then spins into a roundhouse kick to the back of the head. If they fully commit to a weapon swing, he sidesteps them, hook to body so they drop the pipe and quickly picks up the pipe to jab them in the gut and then finish the poor bum with a homerun swing cracking them acoss the head.

I enjoyed it, but wish there'd been an invisible predator mode to try out as well. Combat did feel VERY good, for what it's worth.

Yeah im certian. You can pick enimies up and toss them at each other, or objects in the envryronment like in the free-flow challenge room where you can huss' em into electical fences and stuff. It looks sweet!

I only played it for about roughly 5 minutes. I thought it was awesome. I only played it for 5 minutes because I was hella busy that day.

ONLY in freeflow with a certain amount in the combo multiplyer.

Im curious to see the full range of the combat. It was awesome with the freeflow, but I want to see other moves. like someone else said, being able to ground and pound and roll kick.

The hardest part for me was to NOT button mash. Modern action games seem to program it into your brain to mash buttons as fast as humanly possible to achieve a desired effect, and this game is just the opposite. Button mashing = bad. Kept effing up my combo and thinking "Damn, this is gonna take some getting used to."

Once I have some solid time with the game, I'm sure I'll be able to hit big combos. Best I was able to get was x16 though. Did anyone else notice that (though I'm not 100% certain) countering blows from the baddies seemed to break up your combo? It seemed to for me, then again it could be I just didn't get a follow up attack in quick enough.

Other than that it was brilliant, I can't wait to have the full game in my hands.

I think its not because your used to the combat sytsem. I heard that you are able to punch almost while countering and it might be your not used to actually being able to do those moves so quick as in most games nowadays theres tons of prescripted animiations and you have to wait for them to finish before you can punch lol.

Simple, but it did make me feel like Batman. I did the demo all Michael Keaton style which is basically standing still til they attack you and play the counter game. It was cool just seeing how they threw a punch or how they tried to kick you and in the end no matter where they aimed Batman would make that adjustment for the counter. Played it for only ten minutes so I didn't learn right away all the tricks of the trade which probably could've helped me more on the fourth wave. Still beat them down though.

I got to I think it was level 3 three times, kept dying mid stage. Then on my fourth try I finally made it farther than I had previously when suddenly Zsasz came out of nowhere and did this crazy spin knife attack that got me. Extreme difficulty was no joke. I didn't try normal... Maybe I should next time <.<

I agree wholeheartedly, I played the demo myself for 10 mins, and it's very easy to button mash. But doing so left me with barely a life to survive the demo, so I know I will need much more playtime before I get the feel of the game. But the system works and I eagerly (but patiently) await to get more play time

I played it for a bit just drooling over the graphics. I played it on the PS3 and I am an Xbox owner so I didn't spend too long. I would agree the combat is much better than Assassins Creed and more entertaining. Rocksteady has a bright future ahead of them.

I would agree the combat is much better than Assassins Creed and more entertaining. Rocksteady has a bright future ahead of them. They do if they pull the game off right with plenty of DLC and ads. The most noticable thing was how the moves changed and weren't the same, they always were a bit different so it didn't repeat itself that much, which is really respectable.
